5 of your Live Oak firefighters attended a 5 day swift water technician class. Including 1 of those days being night ops This class included self rescue, victim rescues from cars in the water, victim grabs in the water, throw bags and many other skills. This class further solidifies the overall mission of providing higher level of care to the citizens of Live Oak and surrounding cities. Stay tuned for more videos and pictures form the class.

We would like to give a great big shout out to Patrick Lewis with 1-800-Board-Up in dropping by the station today! He also didn’t come empty handed, he brought a donation of bottled water for our firefighters. Assisting in keeping our members hydrated and prepared for emergency response! We have seen several calls for smoke in the area. This is more likely caused by the wind shift bringing the smoke from the 8600, and growing, acre fire just north of Fredericksburg, TX. Please be cautious and report unauthorized burnings to Live Oak Communications. Please remember during times like this, during these weather conditions, we need to remain vigilant and aware of our surroundings and exit paths. Keep up to date with all the local and regional news channels.

Your LOPFFA members, with help from Santa, were able to deliver gifts to a family. This marks the second year we have done this, bringing many smiles and joy to both the members and the family receiving the gifts. Merry Christmas, everyone.

Congratulations to Captain Rob Johnson on his retirement. 30 years of professional service to the Live Oak Fire Department. Captain Johnson has been a great mentor, friend and brother. Thank you Captain Johnson.
