The Optimist Club of Littleton's primary focus is serving youth by exemplifying the motto of Optimist International.

We provide volunteers and financial assistance for service projects which directly aid kids in pursuing their full potential.

Sunday was Kids Day at Coors Field, and though it wasn't the best day for the Rockies, it was a fabulous day for some of the Shiloh House kids, thanks to the Optimist Club of Littleton Colorado. THANK YOU for taking them out to the ballgame!

CONGRATULATIONS MILLIE LEUBNER!

Arapahoe High School student Millie Leubner has not only won the Littleton Optimist Club's annual essay contest, but she has also won the Colorado-Wyoming district essay contest!

She has earned the $2500 scholarship award for her outstanding first place essay. The scholarship is awarded directly by Optimist International to the college that our winner selects.

Millie will not be able to attend the district meeting April 24th, as she will be at an out-of-state college on that day.

We will make arrangements for her to join our club on a subsequent Friday morning to receive her framed district certificate and plaque, and to read her winning essay for our members!

Here are some photos from our recent game night at Shiloh House this past week. Optimists Frank Atwood from Optimist Club of Littleton and Charlie Neumann from the DTC Optimist Club played chess with the kids, and chocolate chip cookies and hot chocolate bombs made for a very fun evening for both kids and Optimists!

Shiloh House provides therapeutic residential care for youth ages 5 to 17 in safe, home-like settings. Their programs support emotional and behavioral healing while offering life skills, education, and connection to family and community.

Thank you, Shiloh House for all you do!

OPTIMIST CLUB OF LITTLETON PRIDE IN AMERICA FLAG PROGRAM -

The Optimist Club of Littleton's Pride in America Flag Program is a fundraising program designed to provide many benefits to the Littleton Community. The program promotes patriotism by displaying the American flag in front of local merchants and business locations on twelve major annual holidays. The holidays include:

Martin Luther King Day
Presidents Day
Memorial Day
Flag Day
Juneteenth
Independence Day
Colorado Day
Labor Day
Patriots Day
Indigenous People Day
Election Day (every two years)
Veterans Day

The Optimist Club of Littleton has been providing this service to our community since 1962. The cost of this worthwhile program is very reasonable - $60.00 for one year to have a flag posted in front of your business/organization, $110.00 for two years and $150.00 for three years. Proceeds from the program are used exclusively to finance our Youth Activities and Community Service Projects.

Your participation in these programs and your support of our work in the community is greatly appreciated. Please request a follow up call on our page if you are interested in having a flag placed in front of your business/organization.

ATTENTION YOUTH AGES 19 AND UNDER!

The Optimist Club of Littleton is participating in the annual Optimist International Essay Contest for the 2025-2026 school year. The topic is: "How My Acts of Service Help Me Understand What My Community Means to Me." Cash prizes for the competition will be $500.00 for first place, $250.00 for second place and $125.00 for third place. The first place winner in the contest will be entered into the District Competition for $2,500.00 college scholarships.

The contest is open to youth under the age of 19 as of October 1st, 2025, who have not yet completed secondary school or its equivalent and have not enrolled as a degree-seeking student of a post-secondary institution in the USA, Canada or the Caribbean. There is no minimum age.

The Essay Contest is sponsored annually by Optimist International to give youths the opportunity to share their opinions about the world in which they live, encompassing a student's personal experiences, their hopes for the future, or a more historical perspective. It provides excellent opportunities for students to develop and advance their writing skills to excel in their schools and truly connect with their community.

The Optimist Club of Littleton will honor its winning essayists by inviting them, their parents and their teachers to be guests at one of our regular meetings at the end of the contest, where they will be presented with their monetary awards and certificates.

The 2025-2026 essay contest application can be provided as an attachment to an email reply when an email is sent to Club Chair Steve Patterson at [email protected]. Completed applications and essays need to be provided to Steve Patterson at the same email no later than February 8, 2026.
