Ever use your “Maps” app 🚗? Of course! We all do to get around these days.

GPS satellites are what allow us all to navigate on a daily basis. The Space Force is also charged with ensuring our other military branches have access to the best positioning capabilities as possible.

To do this they’ve contracted out for new satellites to be put in orbit to replace the aging ones. One of these missions, using ULA’s Vulcan is named “Sally Ride” after the 1st female NASA astronaut.

The program is slated to be done by 2025, so lots to look forward to!

A VERY busy year planned for Cape Canaveral this year. Currently there’s around 80 launches 🚀 planned. Among these are 3 new platforms: the ULA Vulcan (from the launch sim featured yesterday). The Terran 1 which uses methane as an alternative fuel (a 1st) and is 3D PRINTED (another 1st)! Last is the RS1 which has been designed in order to be shipped anywhere with ease and be able to launch from essentially anywhere with a concrete slab.

Today marks one of the worst moments in American history, the attack on Pearl Harbor. However, it did something amazing as well…it showed how we Americans can band together when it really matters.

There was an enormous amount of loss that we will forever remember. Yet it gives us the opportunity to see how strong we can pull together as a team when things get bleak.

I’m humbled by the events of this somber day and count myself thankful to be a part of the heritage they laid the groundwork for.
