Happy Flag Day! ❤️🤍💙

Today we celebrate the adoption of the American flag and the ideals of freedom, unity, and service that it represents. As we honor Old Glory, we are also proud to recognize this year's 250th Flag Sojourn.

As the commemorative flag continues its journey across the nation, it carries with it the stories of those who have served, sacrificed, and helped shape our country. The 250th Flag Sojourn is a meaningful reminder of our shared history and the enduring values symbolized by the American flag.

On this Flag Day, we encourage everyone to reflect on what the flag represents and the generations of Americans who have proudly stood beneath it.

As part of the continuing CSOC Fire Safety Campaign, Sheriff Jason Mikesell and the Teller County Sheriff's Office are reminding everyone to stay wildfire aware this summer. 🔥🌲

If you are camping, always make sure campfires are completely out before leaving your site. Drown fires with water, stir the ashes, and ensure everything is cool to the touch.

It is also important to follow all local fire restrictions and burn bans. These bans are put in place during dry and dangerous conditions to help prevent wildfires and protect our communities.

Follow along throughout the summer for more wildfire safety guidance and sharing a BIG thank you for doing your part to help keep Colorado safe this fire season.🏔️

🚔 It's always parade season for the Grand County Sheriff's Office! 🏔️✨

What makes serving in Colorado so special? For the Grand County Sheriff's Office (GCSO), it’s the deep-rooted traditions, rich history, and the incredible small towns they protect.

True community-oriented policing goes far beyond answering calls, it’s about being part of the community fabric. After a rewarding school year building relationships with local youth through high school sports send-offs and graduation escorts, GCSO deputies are transitioning from supporting students to supporting town partnerships in their summer parade routine.

Grand County's summer festivities officially began with a moving Memorial Day parade and ceremony in Grand Lake. Standing with residents and visitors to honor the military heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice, GCSO deputies are proud to celebrate community spirit and protect cherished traditions all season long.

🗓️ Save the 2026 Dates and join us for the festivities!

🪵 June 12 - 14 | Hot Sulphur Days: Honoring Grand County’s oldest town.

🤠 June 19 - 20 | Kremmling Days: Celebrating Western heritage and hometown pride.

🎆 4th of July | The Granby Parade

🦬 August 14 - 16 | Buffalo Days in Grand Lake: A long-standing mountain tradition with a classic Western parade.

September 14 - 20 | U.S. Constitution Week: A week dedicated to honoring our nation’s founding document.

Each of these historic town festivities brings together local vendors, family-friendly fun, and strong community support. By patrolling these events, greeting families, and riding alongside community partners, GCSO deputies reinforce the bonds of trust that keep Grand County resilient and safe.

✨ A Monumental Chapter in History: This season carries an extra layer of pride. As GCSO deputies look out at the crowds, they are celebrating Colorado’s 150th statehood anniversary and America’s 250th year of independence.

The County Sheriffs of Colorado are proud to highlight the Grand County Sheriff's Office for their dedication to community policing, support of local traditions, and pride in the history of the place they call home!

📚 The JBBS program is excited to introduce a new jail library initiative aimed at enhancing the rehabilitation and personal development of inmates. Through access to books and educational resources, we hope to inspire learning, curiosity, and critical thinking skills among those in our care. 🤔

⭐Our goal is to provide opportunities for inmates to improve literacy, gain new skills, and support their mental health. By fostering hope and empowerment, we believe this program will help prepare individuals for a successful return to the community.

The CSOC Wellness Committee had a wonderful time at this year’s Wellness Summit in Breckenridge! Attendees had the opportunity to participate in ear acupuncture 👂, enjoy a peaceful nature walk 🌲, and connect with others focused on improving the overall wellness and peer support within our Offices of the Sheriff.

The summit also included meaningful planning discussions surrounding future initiatives, resources, and ways we can continue supporting the wellness of our sheriff’s offices and first responder communities across Colorado. ✅

We also took a moment to honor and recognize Northwest Ambassador Dawn Smith from the Routt County Sheriff's Office with an award for her dedication and commitment to progressing the CSOC Wellness Program within her agency and across Colorado. 🎊

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to such a positive and impactful event!

Congratulations to our very own Camille D’Arcey on earning her Certified Sports Administrator Certificate through the National Council of Youth Sports and George Washington University!

Through this course, Camille gained valuable tools to help strengthen CSOC Youth Athletics - from planning safer, smoother events to building meaningful partnerships, supporting volunteers, and creating events that leave a lasting impact on youth and families across Colorado.

We are so proud of Camille and excited to see her continue using what she learned to grow CSOC Youth Athletics and create more opportunities for connection, confidence, and community.

Way to go, Camille! 👏⚾🏀

Colorado Sheriffs, this one is for you!

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS UNITY SEATS are coming to your community on 9/11 - the 25th anniversary of the attacks.

Through the Unity Seats Program with US United, you can join a national event with 500-1,000 sheriffs across the country to help create a moment of remembrance and connection with your local community at a local high school football game.

Your role is simple: sign up, recommend a few local high schools, help identify Unity Seat attendees, and participate in a moment of silence with your community.

It’s a small lift with a powerful impact.

This month, we’re proud to highlight the Grand County Sheriff's Office - Colorado and the meaningful ways they continue to support and protect their community!

One example of that commitment is their partnership with Brighter World Child Advocacy Center to help raise awareness around child abuse prevention.

The blue pinwheels seen throughout the community are more than decorations; they represent the safe, joyful, and carefree childhood every child deserves. 💙

We are grateful to see agencies like Grand County Sheriff’s Office helping bring attention to efforts that protect children, support families, and strengthen communities across Colorado.

June is National Safety Month, and being prepared for emergencies can save lives. Recognizing the signs of a medical emergency and knowing when to call 911 can make all the difference in a critical situation.

From heart attacks and strokes to overdoses and choking, quick action can help improve outcomes and protect lives. Sheriffs, deputies, detention professionals, dispatchers, and first responders across Colorado are ready to respond when emergencies happen, but community awareness and preparedness are just as important.

This month, take time to learn CPR, review emergency response steps with your family, and encourage those around you to be prepared before an emergency occurs.

Continuing our statewide wildfire prevention and preparedness campaign, the County Sheriffs of Colorado is proud to feature Eagle County Sheriff's Office, Sheriff James Van Beek 🔥

As Colorado enters another active wildfire season, Sheriff Van Beek encourages the public to do their part by staying informed on local fire restrictions, creating defensible space around homes, properly extinguishing campfires, and preparing emergency evacuation plans ahead of time.

Wildfire prevention starts with all of us. Follow along throughout the summer for more wildfire safety guidance to help keep Colorado communities safe.
