Domestic violence often happens behind closed doors, but its impact is felt throughout our community.

This morning, we celebrated our Office’s 32nd Annual “Snack Day” Christmas Party, which has grown to include our second-floor neighbors. A wonderful time of fellowship and food was enjoyed by all — and even Santa made a visit!

🎄 As the year comes to a close, we want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas! 🎄

We are thankful for our team, our partners, and the communities we are honored to serve. May your holiday season be filled with joy, peace, and time with those who matter most.

Earlier this week, a Lamb County jury found Lee Anthony Haskin guilty of Evading Arrest with a Motor Vehicle. After finding the State’s habitual offender enhancements to be true, the Court sentenced Haskin to 40 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

Evading arrest with a motor vehicle is a serious offense that places law enforcement officers and innocent, law-abiding motorists at risk. We thank the jurors for their service and appreciate the law enforcement agencies involved in this case who work every day to keep our community safe.

Sharing this helpful information from our District Clerk’s Office about jury summons and qualifications for service.

Every jury trial, we see several people arrive at the courthouse who are either disqualified from serving or qualify for an exemption—and many don’t realize it until they’ve already taken time off work, arranged childcare, or made other arrangements to be here.

You do not have to appear in person if you clearly qualify for an exemption or are disqualified under Texas law. You do need to follow the instructions on your summons, which explain how to claim an exemption or notify the clerk’s office ahead of time.

A few common examples include:
• No longer being a resident of Lamb County
• Having legal custody of a child under 12 with no alternative childcare
• Being a full-time student
• Having served on a jury recently
• Having a permanent physical or mental impairment that makes service impossible
• Felony conviction without restoration of civil rights (disqualification)

Further instructions are provided in the District Clerk’s post below.

If you receive a summons:
1. Read it carefully.
2. Check the exemption/disqualification list.
3. Follow the instructions for notifying the clerk’s office.

This helps the courts run more smoothly, prevents unnecessary trips for our citizens, and ensures that the jurors who are needed are able to serve without delay.

We appreciate your willingness to serve and your commitment to our justice system. If you ever have questions, feel free to call the District Clerk’s Office for clarification before your report date!

If you are claiming an exemption or if you are disqualified, please call for further instructions.

🦃 Happy Thanksgiving 🦃

As we head into the holiday, our team is grateful for the people who make Lamb County feel like home — the families who support one another, the law enforcement officers and first responders who protect our communities day and night, the courthouse staff who keep the system running, and the many partners who help us seek justice with integrity and fairness.

We know this time of year can be joyful for some and heavy for others. If you're spending today around a full table, we hope it’s a time of peace and rest. And if the season feels harder this year, please know you’re not forgotten. Our office remains committed to serving you, supporting victims, and standing up for the safety of every person who calls Lamb County home.

From all of us in the County & District Attorney’s Office — we wish you a safe and meaningful Thanksgiving.
