During the American Nurses Association Membership Assembly later this month, ARNA will proudly honor the lives and contributions of 242 Arkansas nurses who have passed away over the past year who have received tributes from the Arkansas Nurses Honor Guard.

The names of these nurses are listed in a special commemorative book recognizing them for their dedication, compassion, service, and commitment to caring for others. Their impact lives on through the patients, families, colleagues, and communities they touched throughout their careers.

Today, we pause to remember their service, celebrate their legacy, and express our gratitude for the countless ways they advanced the nursing profession and improved the health of Arkansans.

This rule includes many policy and programmatic changes including nursing education, quality measures, and the hospital readmission reduction program. ARNA/ANA encourages you to submit your own comments.

The American Nurses Association (ANA), the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (AANA), the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN), the American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM), the American Holistic Nurses Association (AHNA), the Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses (APHON), Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Incorporated, the Health Ministries Association (HMA), the National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists (NACNS), and the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women's Health (NPWH) have jointly filed a lawsuit challenging the Department of Education’s exclusion of advanced nursing degrees from the definition of “professional degree” programs in the final rule implementing federal student loan borrowing limits.

ARNA's own Michael Cooper, Ph.D., MSN, RN, CCRN, HACP-CMS, ACUE. Assistant Professor of Nursing, Arkansas State University, in the Traditional BSN/Accelerated Program of Nursing and Kari Goerke, EdD, MS, RN, NEA-BC will serve as Content Reviewers for Sigma's Direct-Level Nurse Leadership Program.

The Director-Level Nurse Leadership Program prepares nurse leaders to operate effectively in complex healthcare environments where clinical outcomes, workforce stability, financial performance, and organizational priorities intersect. Designed for nurses currently in leadership roles or preparing to step into director-level positions, this program focuses on the decisions, responsibilities, and expectations that define leadership at this level.

Across seven courses, learners examine how regulations, financial systems, organizational structures, workforce dynamics, and performance improvement processes shape day-to-day leadership decisions. The program emphasizes practical application—helping leaders interpret data, navigate competing priorities, lead teams through change, and communicate effectively across disciplines. Rather than focusing on theory alone, the program builds judgment and confidence. Learners will be better prepared to engage in financial and operational discussions, lead improvement efforts, support workforce performance, and make decisions that balance patient care, staff needs, and organizational sustainability.

Courses may be taken individually or as a complete program, allowing learners to focus on specific skill areas or develop a comprehensive leadership foundation.
