At their September meeting, the State Board of Education welcomed Benton High School JROTC for the Presentation of Colors and the Pinnacle View Middle School Choir to sing the National Anthem. Brigadier General Chad Bridges provided special recognition of the 25th Anniversary of 9/11, speaking on the service and sacrifice of those who serve in the U.S. military. 🇺🇸

🍎 The 2026-27 Cohort of the Arkansas Excellence in Teaching Fellowship was recognized. This 9-month program highlights exemplary teaching while supporting some of the state's top educators.

🏫 Academies of Central Arkansas Foundation was also recognized by the board. The foundation aligns high school education with postsecondary and workforce opportunities. The model prepares students for successful transition to enrollment, enlistment, or employment.🛠️📚️⭐️

🍂⛰️ Arkansas is putting outdoor learning front and center. The "My Natural State Story" Essay Contest invites students to step outside, explore the Natural State, and turn real-world adventures into powerful stories that celebrate the places that shape us.

Arkansas students ages 10-17 can share a 500-word outdoor adventure in one of seven categories. Contest winners will earn prizes from Arkansas outdoor brands and an invitation to a celebration at the Governor's Mansion. Students can submit their stories at https://mynaturalstatestory.com. 🏕️
