West 9th Street got a little more visible today. ๐Ÿ’œ

This morning, community members gathered for the dedication of two new historical totems as part of Beyond the Divide, a month-long activation reimagining Historic West 9th Street as a place for culture, creativity, connection, and community.

Designed by Perrion Hurd of Hurdwired Studios, Jose Hernandez of Dedicated Visual Art Studio, and Ernest Banks () of studioMAIN (), the totems honor the past, present, and future of a corridor that once stood as one of Arkansasโ€™s most important centers of Black commerce, music, and culture.

More than public art, these installations proudly declare: โ€œThis is West 9th Street.โ€ They serve as reminders of the stories, businesses, artists, and community leaders who shaped this historic corridor and continue to inspire its future.

Thank you to the many partners, artists, and community members who helped bring this vision to life, including AARP Arkansas (), Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau (), City of Little Rock (), Hugg & Hall Mobile Storage, Little Rock Central High School National Historic Site, Smart Growth America, and so many others.

Thereโ€™s still time to experience Beyond the Divide before the activation concludes following Juneteenth on June 20.

โ˜€๏ธ Visit in the morning.
๐Ÿด Stop by during lunch.
๐ŸŒ† Explore after work.
๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ Bring your family in the evening.

Walk the corridor, take in the art, learn the history, support the businesses, and experience West 9th Street not only as it once wasโ€”but as it could be.
