DCFS hosted a Reunification Month Family Art Show Tuesday at the State Capitol to celebrate National Reunification Month. The event features a unique gallery showcasing actual framed artwork created by Arkansas children who have successfully been reunified with their families after foster care. Artwork will remain on display in June on the 4th floor of the Capitol.

Jon and Heather Smith have walked through a year most families would never choose. A cancer diagnosis. Ongoing treatment. Personal loss. And all the uncertainty that comes with it. And still, they kept their home open, for their children, for the system, for families working toward reunification. That kind of resilience doesn’t come from strength alone. It comes from deep love and deep purpose. And the kids they care for see and feel that.
