Arkansas is the most food-insecure state in America.

Our elected officials have the power to help.

SNAP changes hurt:
→ Free school lunches
→ Automatic CEP eligibility
→ Summer EBT grocery cards

Tag your elected officials. Tell them: Fund and protect SNAP

Because Arkansas kids can’t wait.

SNAP changes don’t just affect grocery budgets.

They affect whether your child’s school can afford to feed every student.

It’s called the Community Eligibility Provision — and it depends on SNAP enrollment to work.

SNAP participation reduction → schools lose eligibility → kids lose meals.

Tell your elected officials: Fund and protect SNAP.

1 in 4 Arkansas children goes to bed hungry.

And federal SNAP changes could make it worse — in ways that reach all the way to the school cafeteria.

In Arkansas, SNAP is the only program that automatically signs a child up for free school meals. Lose SNAP → lose lunch. Lose SNAP → lose Summer EBT grocery cards.

Arkansas kids need our voice.

School may be out — but hunger doesn’t take a summer break.
Arkansas families on SNAP are automatically eligible for Summer EBT: pre-loaded grocery cards that help feed children when school meals aren’t available.

But here’s what’s happening: as federal changes remove families from SNAP, they also lose Summer EBT. No SNAP = no summer grocery benefit.

For families already stretched thin, this is not a small loss.

The Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance is fighting to protect these programs and to expand access to school meals year-round. Help us by contacting your elected officials today.

Have you heard of the Community Eligibility Provision(CEP)? It’s one of the most important programs you’ve never heard of.

CEP allows high-poverty Arkansas schools to feed every student free breakfast and lunch, no applications, no paperwork, no child left out. But it only works if enough students are automatically identified as eligible, primarily through SNAP.

When SNAP enrollment falls → the eligibility percentage drops → schools lose CEP → kids lose meals and families are buried in paperwork.

Reducing SNAP participation is already doing exactly that.

Arkansas school nutrition staff are already overwhelmed. This makes it worse.

Contact your elected officials today. Ask them to protect and fund SNAP in Arkansas and join the Arkansas Legislative Hunger Caucus and stand up for Arkansas kids.

Arkansas ranks #1 in the nation for hunger.

And most people don’t know that when SNAP participation declines, access to school meals is also reduced.

Here’s how it works: In Arkansas, SNAP enrollment is what automatically qualifies a child for free school meals, no application needed. When a family loses SNAP, that qualification disappears.

Schools in high-poverty areas use a measure called the Identified Student Percentage (ISP) to qualify for the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), which lets them feed every child for free. When SNAP rolls fall, ISPs fall too. When ISP drops below 25%, schools lose that protection entirely.

- 1 in 4 Arkansas children is already food insecure.
- Over 2.5 million people have lost SNAP benefits nationally since H.R.1 passed.
- Arkansas families who lose SNAP also lose Summer EBT grocery cards.
- Arkansas has not budgeted to cover the mandatory SNAP administrative cost match of $20-25M
