American Indian Center of Arkansas - Who We Are

The American Indian Center of Arkansas is a non-profit organization formed in 1977. We are incorporated under the laws of the state of Arkansas for the purpose of aiding American Indians/Native Americans with employment and training needs. The AICA is a funded organization through the Workforce Innovations and Opportunities Act (WIOA; Section 166). This means that our main focus is to provide workforce development and training programs for American Indians in the state of Arkansas.

Educational Assistance

Through the Workforce Innovations and Opportunities Act (WIOA), the American Indian Center of Arkansas provides educational resources and assistance for Native American, Native Hawaiian, or Alaskan Natives in the State of Arkansas. The resources and assistance include tuition assistance, GED to graduate degrees, certifications, credentialing, and more. Learn more at: aicago.org/educational-assistance

Job Training & Placement

We provide assistance to our job/career seeking participants. This is a combination of career counseling, skills assessment along with job search guidance. We can utilize our partnerships with employers to get our participant’s resume a closer look from the hiring manager. Our IEP outlines the goals that we would like to obtain with our participants. We will go through an extensive intake process to ensure that we have a solid plan of action for our participant. aicago.org/job-training-and-placement

Employer Outreach & Development

The American Indian Center of Arkansas (AICA) seeks partnerships with businesses in Arkansas as a means of placing our clients in high demand jobs. Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP)

SCSEP is a community service and work-based job training program for older Americans. Authorized by the Older Americans Act, the program provides training for low-income, unemployed seniors. Participants also have access to employment assistance through American Job Centers.

AICA offers this program to qualified Native Americans and others, who are 55 years or older, unemployed, and have a family income of no more that 125% of the federal poverty level. Enrollment priority is given to veterans and qualified spouses, then to individuals who are over 65, have a disability, have low literacy skills or limited English proficiency, reside in a rural area, are homeless or at risk of homelessness, have a low employment prospects, or have failed to find employment after using services through the American Job Center system.
