Now open on the first floor of the Arkansas State Capitol: the Mike Disfarmer the Homecoming Exhibit, running through May 26, 2026.

Disfarmer’s portraits captured everyday Arkansans from the 1920s–1950s and later gained national recognition for their striking realism. We were honored to welcome members of the Disfarmer family to see the collection yesterday.

Stop by and experience this unique piece of Arkansas history and the first-ever family-authorized Disfarmer gallery display.

For the first time in 25 years, the State Capitol’s iconic bronze doors will welcome the public again — beginning this Friday from 9 a.m.–12 p.m. What once closed after 9/11 is now reopening thanks to modern security and a renewed commitment to access.

Every Arkansan will once again be able to walk these historic steps and enter the Capitol the way it was meant to be experienced.

Then and now!
Merry Christmas from the Arkansas State Capitol. For generations, the Capitol has been lit during the Christmas season with a special purpose—so children at Arkansas Children’s Hospital can look out their windows and see a light shining just for them. As we remember the humble birth of Jesus and the hope it brought into the world, this tradition continues to reflect comfort, care, and the beauty of the season.

We were honored to welcome Glen Campbell’s family to the Capitol as they stopped by to see the exhibit celebrating his life and legacy. Arkansas is proud to call this country music icon one of our own.
The display is located on the 4th floor and is open for visitors throughout the holiday season and into the New Year.
