Sunday was a beautiful day in our Borough. For the first time since the Covid pandemic, we bought back the Sgt Matt Fenton 5k race/walk. This year commemorates 20 years since our hometown hero sacrificed his life for his country while serving in Iraq.
More than 400 participants gathered to honor Matt’s sacrifice and all those who lost their lives in service to America during this significant 250th Anniversary year.
Congratulations to Borough resident, Yvonne Losino, whose vision, planning, and dedication turned the race into a reality this year. To all the volunteers and sponsors—thank you!
A special acknowledgment goes to our OEM team, as well as our Police and Fire Departments and EMS teams, who contributed to making the event safe and successful. Additionally, we extend our gratitude to the Little Ferry DPW, Property Maintenance Inspector Scott Karavitis, Borough Administrator Lisette Duffy, and Council President Ronald Anzalone for ensuring that all road projects were completed on time and that our Borough looked its absolute best this weekend—we appreciate you! Once again, the “small town with the big heart” united to honor Matt Fenton and all those who served! Let’s do it again next year!
*Shout-out to Mark Horst and other residents who provided pictures of the Run.
