Today, we remember and honor those who sacrificed their lives in service to our nation as we gather with family and friends to enjoy this Memorial Day weekend. From the Revolutionary War onward to the present day, their courage and strength will never be forgotten.

As this beautiful spring week comes to a close, we are looking forward to tomorrow—opening day at Herkimer Home!

Join us at 10am for our first tour of the 2026 season and the start of our 250th celebrations throughout the year. Tours run Wed-Sun starting at 10am with the last tour leaving at 4pm each day. Make sure to keep an eye out for our special events as we get the year started.

Dust off your garden tools and lend us a hand as we get ready for another summer season.

Tomorrow is the day and spring is in the air!

Join us as we get ready for the season and work to beautify our grounds. We have gardens to clear, flowers to plant, mulch to move, benches to paint and more! Bring down your work gloves and tools and join us for this years I Love My Park Day starting at 10am.

A special thank you goes out to Annutto’s Greenhouses in Herkimer for their support for our annual garden planting event this year!

Herkimer Home still has positions open in Interpretation for the season! Our seasonal tour guides and interpreters work each day to bring you the history of our site and local region we all love.

Roll up those sleeves because it is time to show your local state parks and historic sites some love! I Love My Park Day is back on Saturday, May 2, and we are looking for volunteers across the state to head outdoors and make a difference. Want to learn how you can help? As we look back at last weekend we wanted to thank all our volunteers, staff, vendors, and of course our visiting public for making this year’s Sugaring Off a memorable one. A special shout out to That Little Place on Main for making Saturdays breakfast so tasty!
