Wow! Today’s shout out goes to KAPPA, a small, local group of pharmacists with BIG hearts ❤️ !

Having previously provided Welcome Bags for families with her daughter (a student volunteer), Sheetal pitched the idea of giving back to her pharmacy group. Knowing the importance of hygiene and the needs of traveling families, they jumped in, pooled their resources, and provided an SUV full of household necessities - paper towels, toilet paper, bar soap, hand soap, dish soap, cleaning cloths, toothpaste, and toothbrushes! What a HUGE blessing to offer to families returning to our area!

If you’ve ever moved with kids, you completely understand the importance of being able to
🧻 locate toilet paper
🧴have soap on hand, and
🧼 get the baths done, & 🪥 teeth brushed to prepare for school!

Thank you Kerala Association of Practicing Pharmacists of America for your incredible generosity! ❤️

👉 Welcome Bags are a high need item this time of year! If you’d like to donate items or make bags (students can earn service hours), learn more here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1b3-3yQNfPddy7NRbyUcnzLE3FrZ7xVY26vLk6ncOros/edit?usp=drivesdk

Today’s shout out goes to Marie & Tracy, 2 different volunteers who championed getting school supplies for students in the program by sharing the need!

Marie spread the word with Dr. Kyle Mullan - Brandon and his front office staff at Champion Wellness Centers in Brandon who collected an array of school supplies and dropped them off to us!

Tracy spread the word in her neighborhood and Candice answered the call with a backpack and a box of school supplies. Tracy even took care of dropping them off!

Thank you ALL for caring and understanding the need for school supplies for students who arrive after the school year has started. Beginning school here with the supplies they need, knowing community members are there to support them, makes starting again in another place just a little bit better. ❤️

Busy is good! At this time of the year, it means that we’re able to meet the requested needs of families 🙌 thanks to your help and steady support!

Requests right now average about 5 - 8 per week and some families have multiple needs. These are just some of the requests we’ve fulfilled in the past 2 weeks with the help of those listed. We simply couldn’t help families in the program without your support and generosity.

❤️ One family received a dresser, side table with built in lamp, and a glider & stool + side table. What difference these items have made in their home - a light to read and do homework by, a place for clothes, and a glider chair to rock in and put your feet up after a long day of work in the fields. Thank you, Andrea, Sally, & Merci!

❤️ One family received a white chest of drawers and a black shelf for additional storage. Using vertical space is so important and having a place to put clothing is a must! Thank you, Gail & Daphane!

❤️ One family received a complete twin bed for their high school daughter with new sheets & a new comforter, providing dignity and a place to sleep! Thank you, Jodi & Ellen!

❤️ One family received a 2 burner, electric, countertop cooktop. These are portable and can travel where they need to go when strawberry season ends here. Thank you Lisa & Cheryl!

❤️ One expectant mom received an array of brand-new baby clothes in various sizes (good thinking) at her doorstep. Thank you, Jenn!

❤️ One family received an air conditioner & a refrigerator after returning to their home from traveling for summer work to find that both had stopped working. 2 other families, sharing a trailer, needed an air conditioning unit (landlords are not required to provide AC in Florida). You’ve given them needed relief from the heat! Thank you, Ammey!

Whether you’re sharing a post, checking with friends and neighbors for needed items, understanding the challenges of families, volunteering, or donating, you’re helping and we couldn’t do this without YOU! Thank you! ❤️

When stocking the food pantry recently, 2 families were able to fill a bag with some items just brought in! As I was restocking the pantry with this generous donation of shelf stable juice & milk, cereal, instant oatmeal packets, individual peanut butter, and strawberry powdered protein packets, one of the ladies’ face lit up with a huge smile! 😊

It turns out that she recognized me! And, she had just been asking the staff member about me. I hadn’t seen her in 4 years, but she remembered my name and with help from staff to translate, she recounted the beautiful table we delivered to her along with some toys for her 2 boys. That was back in 2022! She went on to share how much her boys had grown indicating their changed height with an outstreatched palm. They were catching up to her height quickly!

I retrieved the photo from when we delivered the table in 2022 and later that week captured an updated photo. (The youngest wanted mom to hold him like in the first photo, but you can tell he’s a little big for that now.😂)

My heart was truly overflowing by how one delivery 4 years ago left such an indelible mark on her and I’m ecstatic to be able to share this full circle moment with you all!

I asked if it was ok if I took a picture of their filled bags from the food pantry to share with all of you. While translating the response from one of the ladies, the staff member got teary eyed. She was so touched by what Mom said. Mom basically explained that she understood why sharing a photo was important and she would proudly pose to thank all those who have blessed her and her family in the past and today. Even though she can’t see ALL of you she wants YOU to know that she feels your love and kindness and is extremely grateful! ❤️

If you would like to contribute to the food pantry for families in the program, see the items most requested here. Students can also earn service hours by hosting their own food drive. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2ISJERVEDMX8T?ref_=wl_share

When this family asked for a twin bunkbed with a trundle, we let them know that those are pretty rare and hard to find, but we’d do our best to find one.

First, we found the trundle. Now all we needed to do was find a bunkbed, hoping 🤞that the trundle would fit underneath. Last Sunday, we delivered the trundle with a twin mattress and sheets along with a dresser and side table with lamp that was also needed.

A day later, we found exactly what we were looking for - the complete bunkbed with trundle, 2 mattresses, and a bonus - a built in small dresser! On Tuesday, we disassembled it and delivered it. After the boys got home from school, we went back to help them put it all together!

They were thrilled! Now all 3 boys who share a small room had their own beds to sleep in with space to maneuver in the room. Not only that, the pride they felt after putting the bed together just beamed in their smiles!

And, in the end, the first trundle we delivered helped another family nearby!

It’s truly amazing how we change lives with all our gifts and talents!

We owe a big thanks to those who made it happen - Julia & Jeremy for the amazing bunkbed and 2 mattresses, Tina M for the single trundle, Toni M for the other mattress & Toni L for giving it a steam clean, Sandra for sheets for all 3 twins + 2 comforters, Melissa for the other comforter and pillow, Sally and Andrea for the other 2 pieces of furniture, Hiral for helping disassemble and deliver the bunkbed, and Jasmine & Junior for delivering the other furniture this past Sunday. Thank you for making a difference with your kindness!

Today’s shout out goes to Ella and the Newsome Red Cross Club (newsomeredcrossclub)!

Back in May, Ella contacted us to collaborate on a hurricane supply project for farmworker families in the program. Supporting the mission of the American Red Cross - preventing and relieving suffering, here at home and around the world - the Newsome Red Cross Club saw a need locally and a way to lend a hand in solidarity.

With donations from club and community members, the Newsome Red Cross Club packed 80 bags as their first service project of this school year! Each bag contained shelf stable snacks, personal supplies, and a flashlight!

Looking back on how families were impacted by Hurricane Milton, this was very proactive thinking by the Newsome Red Cross Club! This past Monday, all the bags were delivered to Plant City! Thank you all for preparing for needs in advance and blessing families in the program!

They still have 40 more bags to pack. If you’d like to contribute any hurricane supplies, please reach out to
[email protected].

A big thank you to Ella and Abby for dropping off all the bags over the weekend and to Dennis for transporting the bags to Plant City on Monday! - ❤️
