Full Time School Resource Officer

The City of Litchfield and the Litchfield Community School District #12 are pleased to announce that a School Resource Officer (SRO) will be reinstated to a full-time role for the upcoming school year, reflecting a shared commitment to student and staff safety and the strength of ongoing collaboration between the two entities.

School Board President Julie Abel highlighted the impact of that collaboration, stating, “When our schools and city work together, great things happen for our community,” and expressing appreciation to the City of Litchfield for helping make the agreement possible. She added that a full-time School Resource Officer represents a meaningful step forward for student and staff safety and reflects the kind of shared commitment that makes Litchfield a great place to learn and live.

Mayor Jacob Fleming underscored the broader significance of the agreement, calling it an example of a strong community in action. He said the City and School District are working together to support a full-time School Resource Officer and create a safer environment for children, adding that the partnership reflects a shared commitment to protecting what matters most and investing in Litchfield’s future.

Superintendent Kelly McClain echoed that sentiment, saying she appreciates the continued partnership and support from the City as the agreement is finalized. She noted that the effort reflects how both organizations work together to support one another in keeping Purple Panthers safe while doing what is best for the entire community.

City Administrator Breann Vazquez emphasized that partnering with the School District on this initiative demonstrates both entities' focus on collaboration and proactive solutions, noting that working together strengthens communication, improves safety, and ensures students and staff have the support they need to succeed.

Both the City and the School District look forward to the positive impact this enhanced presence will bring, reinforcing a safe and supportive environment for all students and staff.
