Keep in mind the money the "Benefit" raises go towards the "Friends of Columbiana County Park District " a private non-profit started and ran by Tom Butch. That money does not directly go towards the Park District. When asked why it is set up that way 🤷‍♂️ answer was it doesn't go through the County auditor. Roy Paparodis Columbiana County Republican Party again this is something that should be looked at hard.

One of the biggest questions from the Columbiana County Park District employees to the former new Boardmembers was "Why do we house Lisbons Stuff". This is something we suggested Columbiana County Republican Party to look into. The employees made complaints that for the last 3 years Columbiana County Park District housed the Lisbon Beutification and Lisbon Landmark Foundation Christmas Decorations and barriers. When the new Boardmembers approached Eileen Dray-bardon and Tom Butch about this complaint as the workers had to move all the stuff in the Columbiana County Maintenance Shop. The reply was "A Good Neighbor".... That would be fine if the Columbiana County Park District wasn't a Government Organization and yet again like resources being used by Lisa Butch for her nonprofit or Eileen, Tom and Dave using resources for the "Friends of Columbiana County Park District" nonprofit. These favors and support were for Peter Wilson who runs both of these nonprofits. Again perfectly acceptable if it wasn't Government Resources used yet again by Tom Butch and Eileen to support their close friend. It is not the County Parks job nor the Tax payers money. Not only do these barriers and Decorations take up 1-4-1/3 of the County Park Maintenance shop. But our maintenance workers have to work around it and be present on the clock when a private non-profit needs to get in there. Which then it was discovered Tom and Eileen gave Peter Wilson a key to the shop.... Again a violation, Peter Wilson is not a County Park employee or Boardmember why was he given a key. The City of East Liverpool, Ohio mayor Bob Smith doesn't have a key, Mayor of Salem doesn't have a key. I imagine even Roy Paparodis doesn't have a key to the County Parks. Once this was discovered all locks were immediately changed and the non-profits were notified they needed to find new homes. With Tom and Eileen returning to the parks we hope Roy, Tim Ginter and Mike Halleck have a heavier hand and involvement with the parks. Because Eileen and Tom were using the County Parks for their own purposes and to support private non-profits. People thought oh how terrible Eileen who had been at the parks 23yrs and Tom 18 resigned, but they never went to the employees or ask the new Boardmembers why. Because for to long Tom and Eileen ran the Park District unchecked and were being held accountable. Showing favoritism and using park resources to help your friends non-profit is just wrong and giving unauthorized people access is wrong. Something that was extremely concerning is when Chief Abraham contacted the Columbiana County Park District back in February in regards why the Park District was allowing Peter Wilson to use the Park District Tax ID involving a incident with a Lisbon Area Chamber of Commerce. Peter Wilson was trying to obtain a illegal liquid license and when he filed it he used the "Friends of the Columbiana County Park District". Like many people in the Community Chief Abraham didn't realize the Park District and this nonprofit organization "Friends of the Columbiana County Park District" where two separate organizations. Mainly because for to long Dave Hughes, Eileen Dray-bardon and Tom Butch sat on both boards (clearly a hugh conflict). It was also never made public that these 2 organizations were separated. (They prefer donated money go to the non-profit so it didn't go through the County Commissioners or County auditor). 1 is a Government Organization and the other is a private non-profit. Yet Tom and Eileen were miss using County resources for the private non-profit Tom created in 2008 and still runs. This non-profit used the County Park District phone number, address and website along with utilitizing the Park District secretary to recieve phone calls and sell their t-shirts from. Which again is clearly a conflict of misusing County assets and oversight should have been happening. This was getting corrected and a strong separation of this private non-profit and the Park District was happening. By Laws were getting rewritten to ensure the situation where no member of either organization could sit on both boards again. The Public was getting asked to not donate to the Friends but to donate directly to the Park District. The investigation Chief Abraham was heading up the actual Columbiana County Park District cleared its name. But like Chief Abraham we were questioning why did a non-profit that was supposed to support the Park District was allowing Peter Wilson to misuse their TAX ID number to obtain a liquor license? Again a separate private non-profit and they are free to do whatever they want, but it seems shady. Adam Newbold do you have a opinion about this information

Yes this is very unfortunate, apparently the Judge did not like the position changes happening with your Columbiana County Park District. So he wants the same leadership that ran the park district into the ground, fail to pass 4 levies, has your park district full of decrepit buildings, broken equipment, no running water at Scenic Vista and your Park District goes bankrupt at the end of this year. But that proven failed leadership apparently is the answer. Thank your for all the encouragement and support.
The Judge used the excuse Crystal Siembida Boggs had a conflict. Please remember Tom Butch started the nonprofit and still sits on the "Friends of the Park District" where for years all the donations were funneled. Until the Boardmembers that are now leaving, Eileen Dray-bardon, Dave Hughes and Tom Butch sat on both the Park District and the Friends board. They controlled both and FOR YEARS but apparently the Judge turned a blind eye to that conflict

We get a lot of questions about what can be taken from park property. Here's a short but quick answer from the Ohio Division of WIldlife and our Public Land Agreement.

(G) It shall be unlawful for any person to remove or plant any agricultural crop, ice, sand, gravel, stone, wood, fruits, plants, water, or other substances from any area under agreement with and administered by or under control of the division without first obtaining written permission from the chief of the division. This provision shall not apply to the picking of berries, nuts or mushrooms, picking up naturally shed deer antlers during the daylight hours or picking up litter for proper disposal during the daylight hours.

Since the weather did not cooperate yesterday, here are some beautiful flowers you can see at Hellbender Bluff.
All of the flowers attached can be found right off the main trail from Lones Road down to the creek or relatively close to the trail. The image of the Trillium is on the hillside at Hellbender Bluff. When timed right it is quite the display!
