With hotter temperatures in the forecast, it’s important to stay safe and cool. In Maine, heat-related illnesses become more common when temps reach the mid-to-upper 80s and above.

Cooling Centers may be opening across the state to provide relief, especially for those without access to air conditioning.

📍During hot weather check for open Cooling Center locations here: maine.gov/mema/response-recovery/mass-care

You may also dial 211 (or 1-866-811-5695) or text your zip code to 898-211 for a list of Cooling Center locations, or contact your local town office, fire, or police department.

PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

On June 10, 2026, at approximately 2:39 p.m., the Lisbon Communications Center received a report from Androscoggin County 911 that a male subject had threatened several juveniles with a firearm in the area of Berry Avenue and Campus Avenue in Lisbon Falls. During the incident, one of the juvenile victims was assaulted. The suspects then fled north through Huston Park.
Lisbon Police Officers responded immediately and met with the juvenile victims. Based on the seriousness of the incident and the report of a firearm, a coordinated search effort was quickly established.

The Lisbon Police Department and its Lisbon K9 unit were assisted by numerous law enforcement and public safety partners, including the Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office K-9 Team, Brunswick Police Department K-9 Team, Sagadahoc County Sheriff's Office, Topsham Police Department, Maine State Police, and Androscoggin County Emergency Management Agency.

Androscoggin County Emergency Management Agency provided aerial drone support, while officers established a perimeter and searched the area. A shelter-in-place order was issued for the affected neighborhood during the operation to ensure public safety. During the search, K9 units located a fire that had been started in the woods, while tracking the suspects.

During the investigation, Lisbon Police Officers apprehended one juvenile suspect in Huston Park after refusing to submit to arrest, who was confirmed to be involved in the incident. A second juvenile suspect was later located and apprehended by Lisbon Police Officers in Durham. The firearm used in the incident was also recovered.

As a precaution during the incident, officers from the Topsham Police Department were stationed at the MTM Center to provide security while parents arrived to pick up children. The Parks and Recreation Director issued notifications to families advising them of the lockdown and releasing children to parents from the after-school program.

Because the individuals involved are juveniles, their identities will not be released.

15yr old Juvenile Suspect #1 has been charged with:
• Refusing to Submit to Arrest or Detention
• Arson (Class A Felony)
• Probation Hold

17yr old Juvenile Suspect #2 has been charged with:
• Arson (Class A Felony)
• Assault
• Criminal Threatening with a Dangerous Weapon (Felony)
• Refusing to Submit to Arrest or Detention

Both juveniles are being transported to the Long Creek Youth Development Center, where they will be held pending further court proceedings.

The Lisbon Police Department would like to thank all assisting agencies for their rapid response, professionalism, and support in establishing and maintaining the search perimeter. We also extend our appreciation to the many community members who provided information and assistance during this incident.

This remains an active investigation, and additional charges are being looked at. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact Detective Christopher Sibley at the Lisbon Police Department 207-353-2500.

Respectfully,
Ryan McGee
Chief of Police
