DONATION REQUEST: Help feed the dogs of the Columbiana County Dog Pound 🐾
The dogs at the Columbiana County Dog Pound need your help! We are currently very low on dry dog food and are asking our community to come together to help keep our dogs fed while they wait for their new families.
Our preferred food is Purina One because of its overall quality, palatability, and lack of artificial dyes. The dogs tend to enjoy it more, which means less food goes to waste and more of every donation goes toward feeding the dogs in our care. We also deal with a lot less ear and skin issues when feeding Purina One. We gratefully accept donations of any brand of dry dog food, so if Purina One isn't in your budget, your donation will still matter and be greatly appreciated! Every bag makes a difference!
Donations can be dropped off at:
Columbiana County Dog Pound
8455 County Home Road
Lisbon, OH 44432
Donation Hours:
Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM–4:00 PM
Saturday–Sunday: 8:00 AM–12:00 PM
*If you are unable to stop by during those hours, donations may be left on our covered porch after hours.
Here is the link to our Amazon wishlist: https://a.co/0drssKfD
If you are able to donate, please consider picking up an extra bag on your next shopping trip. And if you can't donate, sharing this post can help us reach someone who can.
❤️ No donation is too small. Every bag helps fill a bowl and makes a difference in the life of a dog in our care.
Thank you to everyone who supports the dogs of Columbiana County. We are incredibly grateful for our community and all the kindness you show to the homeless dogs in need. 🐶🐾

Please SHARE and please take a moment to meet Flint. Flint has been with us since July 18, 2025. He hasn't had a single inquiry or meet and greet in the time he has been with us. Over one year of zero interest.
Flint came from a horribly neglectful life. He lived outside, chained to a dog house with the bare minimum to survive, but at least he has a dog house... many of the others from the same property did not. We seized 20+ dogs from this property in 2 different groups. Flint was in the second group and he is the last dog from that situation that is still looking for a family of his own. Most of the dogs from there were very shut down and unsocialized, but Flint is one of most social and outgoing of the group and he has just gotten even happier since his time here with us, which is why we just can't figure out why he is still here! He loves to play with toys and is quite a character. He enjoys his time out in the play yards rolling around in the grass and basking in the sunshine.
Flint isn't really sad here, but we're sad for him. He deserves a family. He deserves more attention. He deserves more walks. He deserves new friends. He is an easy-going boy and he isn't an overly needy dog. He likes attention and affection, but doesn't demand it.
Flint will need some work with potty training once he goes to a home. He does well with keeping his kennel clean, but will need guidance, patience and consistency.
Flint is a Pit Mix, likely mixed with some Rottie and maybe some Border Collie. He is about 3-4 years old and weighs about 76 lbs.
Flint is neutered, current on routine vaccines, microchipped, dewormed, heartworm negative and will get his license when adopted. His adoption fee is $152, which covers all aforementioned vetting.

The Columbiana County Dog Pound is a county-operated agency, but we are not funded through the county’s general fund. Our operations are supported entirely by county dog license fees and donations. Because of this, we operate with a small staff while caring for approximately 55–60 dogs at any given time.

When someone calls to report a complaint, the first information we ask for is the location or address of the dog, if known. This helps us respond more efficiently to the large number of calls we receive. We also ask for the caller’s address. If the complaint involves a dog, we may check to see whether the dog is properly licensed. Please understand that this is not an attempt to cost anyone money—it is simply part of our job and required by Ohio law.

Just as we are expected to have a driver’s license and license plate to operate a vehicle, Ohio law requires dogs to be licensed. The annual dog license fee is $12.00. If purchased after the deadline, the total cost is $24.00, which includes the late fee.

Please don’t take offense if we ask these questions. We are simply doing the job we have been entrusted to do and following the laws we are required to enforce.

One final point: because of our limited staff and workload, we are not able to return every phone call with an update on the outcome of a complaint. We do make every effort to follow up on serious cases whenever possible. However, many investigations take time, and it can take days or even weeks to make contact with the dog owner or receive a return call. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to address each complaint as thoroughly and fairly as possible.

Thank you for your support of the Columbiana County Dog Pound and for helping us keep our community’s dogs safe and protected. 🐾♥️

On behalf of the staff at the Columbiana County Dog Pound, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made a donation in memory of Jason Keyes Sr.

Over the weekend, Jason's wife and sweet little grandson brought out a big load of things to help the pups! Jason’s family plans to continue collecting donations for the Columbiana County Dog Pound in his memory every year. This ongoing tribute will help ensure that Jason’s love for animals continues to make a difference and that his legacy of kindness lives on.

Thank you for your compassion, your generosity, and for helping keep Jason’s memory alive through your donations. Your support means so much to us and to the dogs we care for.

With sincere appreciation,

The Staff (and dogs) of the Columbiana County Dog Pound ❤️❤️❤️
