2025 Membership Recognition Banquet

On Friday, May 29th, the membership of the Lionville Fire Company gathered together with spouses and partners to enjoy a relaxing night off at the Hilton Garden Inn. Members enjoyed drinks, food, company, games, and awards as a small token of appreciation for everything they have contributed over the past year. Guests from other local fire companies, EMS agencies, and municipalities were invited as well to show appreciation for any and all assistance to the fire company.

The actions and capabilities of the Lionville Fire Company would not be possible without the support of other local organizations, and especially without the support of family and friends of members. We thank you dearly!

Recognition awards were announced for the following achievements for the 2025 year:

Firefighter of the Year: Firefighter/EMT Danial Mellinger
Special Service Award: Firefighter/EMT Andrew Bucklin

On March 9th, 1998, The Lionville Fire Company and Uwchlan Ambulance Corps were operating on the Pennsylvania Turnpike at an auto accident when a tractor trailer struck the incident scene. This critically injured numerous first responders and claimed the life of Firefighter David J. Good.

Firefighter David J. Good was a member of the Uwchlan Township Road Crew and coached local youth sports teams.

Firefighter Good was laid to rest on Friday, March 13th, 1998. He was 38 years old.

This changed the way first responders operate on incidents along major highways throughout the country.

May we never forget.

On Thursday evening, members of the Lionville Fire Company conducted the first part of a two-part ice rescue training series at the station. The session began with an in-house PowerPoint presentation covering ice rescue basics, techniques for approaching and rescuing victims who have fallen through the ice, and important safety considerations.

Following the presentation, personnel reviewed the companies ice rescue equipment. Members also inspected and serviced the tools to ensure everything is in proper working order and ready for use in an emergency, especially with the current extended period of cold temperatures.

Ice Safety Reminder for Residents:

No ice is ever completely safe, conditions can vary widely.
Avoid walking, skating, or driving on frozen bodies of water unless it has been professionally certified safe.
Keep pets off the ice.
If someone falls through the ice, call 911 immediately, do not attempt a rescue yourself.

This past weekend, as Winter Storm Fern moved into the area, Lionville Volunteers staffed the station from Saturday evening through early Monday morning to ensure rapid emergency response throughout the storm.

A huge thank you to Harlan Tree Service for providing heavy-duty mats to protect our apparatus bay floors while we used tire chains, and to Montesano Brothers for quickly putting together a catering order that kept our crews — along with the Uwchlan Township Public Works Department and Uwchlan Township Police Department — well fed during the storm. We truly appreciate your support!

Please help us, help you!
Snow piled around fire hydrants can delay firefighters during an emergency. Clearing a 3-foot radius around hydrants keeps them visible and accessible when every second counts. If you see a hydrant near your home, please take a few extra minutes to shovel it out.

01/21/2026

With the potential weekend storm we would like to remind all our residents that there is no parking allowed on any Township street, including cul-de-sacs, when there is 1" or more of snow accumulation. ❄🌨⛄

All vehicles must be off Township-owned roads to allow for safe and effective snow removal operations. 🚧

BUSY SATURDAY FOR LIONVILLE VOLUNTEERS

On December 27th, 2025, the Lionville Fire Company volunteers responded to multiple serious incidents stretching long throughout the day.

5:52am - Concord Ave, Uwchlan Township: House Fire

Members were alerted to a house fire that was reported to have started on the back deck and was spreading to the house. Firefighters deployed three hose lines and then went into service for overhaul and ventilation to search for any remaining hot spots. One home occupant was transported to be evaluated for minor smoke inhalation. Lionville volunteers operated on the scene for 3 and a half hours before returning available for service again.

11:28am - Marchwood Shopping Center, Uwchlan Township: Fuel Spill

Members were alerted to a vehicle that had struck an object in the roadway that had ruptured the fuel tank underneath, and was leaking fuel after being parked at Marchwood Shopping Center shortly afterwards. Firefighters used absorbent agents and liquid containment methods to contain the fuel from contaminating anything further. Volunteers operated on the scene for roughly 1 hour.

4:00pm - Keystone Valley Fire Department, Parkesburg Borough

The Lionville Fire Company was requested in advance from the Keystone Valley Fire Department to standby at their firehouse from 4:00pm to midnight so their members could enjoy their annual Christmas party. Keystone Valley has provided similar services for Lionville in the past. The 6-person standby crew responded to two incidents while on call, a fire alarm at the Stottsville Inn, and a two vehicle accident at Valley Road and Strasburg Road. The crew was given a paid-for dinner and graciously released early at 9pm.

6:15pm - Eagleview Senior Housing, Uwchlan Township: Fire Alarm

Smoke detector activation, no fire or smoke present, accidental activation.

9:33pm - Saddlebrook Circle, West Pikeland Township: RV Fire

Members were alerted to a Van-style RV on fire in the driveway of a home, with close exposure to the house and one other RV also in the driveway. Due to the presence of full 30-gallon propane tanks in each RV, the Chester County 911 center requested the Chester County Hazmat team to respond, but were not needed. Firefighters saved the fire from spreading to the adjacent house and RV and extinguished the fire. Volunteers operated for roughly one hour before being alerted to the next call.

10:26pm - Hawthorne Road, West Brandywine Township: RIT response for House Fire

While on scene cleaning up from the RV fire, Chester County alerted fire companies of a large 2-story single family house with heavy fire from both floors. Lionville Fire Company was due as the Rapid Intervention Team, and provided two fully-equipped RIT teams on each side of the structure. Firefighters operated as the active RIT crew before being stood down and released. Volunteers operated for roughly 2 hours, then returned to the station and finished the clean-up from the RV fire around 1:00am.

Special thanks to all the mutual aid companies who assisted on these assignments.

Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected by this incident.

On Saturday, December 20th, 26 of our volunteers spent the day driving Santa Claus around town. Members spent 8 hours, driving over 297 miles, attempting to hit every street in our territory (consists of three townships). We apologize if any streets were missed on Saturday!

Below are some photos that were submitted throughout the day Saturday, if you have any others, please feel free to add them in the comments below!

Happy Holidays!

SANTA COMES TO LIONVILLE!

Today is the day we have all been waiting for! We hope to be under way shortly.

Lionville volunteers will be spending over 8 hours, and trying to physically cover every street within our fire territory, because of the size of the fire apparatus, smaller streets and those with very low hanging trees/wires, the fire truck may stay near the end of the street.

We are unable to provide updates as to Santa’s location or timing. Please see the maps below as to which truck you need to watch for your neighborhood and the link to the Santa tracker.

We ENCOURAGE everyone to post pictures/add comments to Santa’s location for others.

There will be a short break (1 hour) around lunch time for our volunteers and Santa to warm up and eat some food.

PLEASE DO NOT call 911 or the firehouse to ask where Santa is.

Reminder – We will not be collecting Toys for Tots this year.

The attached maps will show exactly what streets will be covered.

There is potential for only half a street to be covered due to municipal lines/fire territory boundaries.

This will be the only post until the conclusion of the event so be sure to follow it and post updates/pictures in the comments!
