We are thankful to receive a grant of $4,600.00 from the State of North Carolina Office of State Fire Marshal. The total funding for this 50/50 matching grant is $9,200.00. This money will be used to install Insta Chain snow chains on both of our front line engines and will allow us to better service our community during snow and ice events. Thank you for your support!

Update: 11:15am - the road is back open

Haden Grove Church Rd is closed in the 900 block due to a downed tree and power lines involved. Duke Energy is aware and responding. Please avoid the area!

Burn ban effective today at 6pm.

Due to increased wildfire risk, the N.C. Forest Service has issued a ban on all open burning and has canceled all burning permits statewide effective 6 p.m. Saturday, March 28 until further notice.

Under North Carolina law, the ban prohibits all open burning in the affected counties, regardless of whether a permit was previously issued. The issuance of any new permits has also been suspended until the ban is lifted. Anyone violating the burn ban faces a $100 fine plus $183 court costs. Any person responsible for setting a fire may be liable for any expenses related to extinguishing the fire.

The burn ban does not apply to fires started within 100 feet of an occupied dwelling. The local fire marshal has authority to issue a burn ban within those 100 feet.

Crews are currently operating on a working house fire in the 8900 block of Old Salisbury Road. Fire is under control and there are no injuries.

Old Salisbury Road is shut down between Lakeview Church Rd and S NC Hwy 150. Please avoid the area.

*** UPDATE this incident has been cleared and all ramps and lanes are now open.

⚠️ Emergency crews are currently on scene of a tractor trailer rollover I-85 south, right after the Highway 150 exit & I-85S on ramp (exit 84). There will likely be 1-3 right hand lanes closed and the on ramp to I-85 south shortened or closed during cleanup. Please use caution, move over and give the crews space to work. This will likely take several hours to clear. ⚠️

On Monday, November 17, 2025 at approximately 9:30pm, Churchland and other area firefighters responded to a house fire in the 9800 block of S NC Hwy 150 just down from our fire station. When we arrived minutes later, we found heavy fire on the front of the residence. The fire was quickly controlled at there were no injuries. Thank you to our mutual aid partners and agencies who assisted.
