On Friday, May 15, the Linton Police Department responded to a complaint resulting from an online organization that conducts private investigations relating to exposing child predators.
In the course of my conversation with members of that group, I, Chief Clark, chose very poor wording while speaking about the difficulty of prosecuting these vigilante initiated investigations.
The words I chose painted an unfair and improper message about our Elected Prosecutor. That organization left that encounter with the belief that their investigation would not be accepted. Subsequently, they shared that belief and it resulted in Prosecutor Holtsclaw receiving unfair criticism in the wake.
The words I chose were my own, and not a reflection of Prosecutor Holtsclaw, his Office Policies, nor his opinion of this investigation. In fact, the Prosecutor relayed his willing intent to review the evidence on this case upon immediately learning of the case Friday afternoon.
I would like to express my sincerest apologies to Prosector Holtsclaw for the negative light this caused towards him. He has always been relentless in prosecuting violations of the law.
I would also like to apologize to Alex Rosen and his organization for misrepresenting information in the process. And to anyone who might have been impacted by my poorly chosen words.
