🚰 A Quick Community Courtesy Request Regarding the City Fill Station

Now that the transition to the City water fill station is complete, we’d like to ask residents for a small favor that can make a big difference for everyone.

If your schedule allows, please consider avoiding use of the fill station Monday–Friday between 7:00 AM and 3:30 PM (Holidays Excluded).

During those hours, the POA water delivery trucks are actively using the station to serve residents throughout Linn Valley. Helping keep the station readily available during peak delivery times can reduce wait times for deliveries and improve efficiency.

To be clear — this is only a voluntary request, not a restriction. The fill station is available for all residents to use whenever needed. We simply ask for cooperation when possible to help keep water deliveries moving smoothly for neighbors who rely on them.

As always, we appreciate everyone working together to make this transition successful for the community. 💙

🚰 Linn Valley Water System Update – North Side POA Meter Connections 🚰

Work is beginning now to connect residents currently on the north side POA metered water system to City water.

As crews work through the cutover process today, residents may experience:

• Temporary water interruptions
• Air in the lines or sputtering faucets
• Temporary discoloration or sediment as water flow patterns change in the system

If you notice discoloration or sediment after connection:
• Run cold water for a few minutes
• Remove the little faucet screen/aerator (“the deally” 😄) from a faucet in the lowest part of your home, if possible
• Bathtubs and utility sinks are also great options since they don’t have aerators

We appreciate everyone’s patience as we continue this important upgrade to Linn Valley’s water system. Our crews are working hard to make this transition go as smoothly as possible.

🚰 Linn Valley Water Update 🚰

Well… as construction projects sometimes remind us, things don’t always go exactly according to plan. 😅

Yesterday’s cutover to connect residents currently on the POA metered water system took longer than expected, and unfortunately some residents were without water for an extended period of time. We also were not able to complete the cutover as planned.

For those impacted — we sincerely apologize. We know water is not something anyone wants to be without, especially longer than expected.

The good news is: work will continue today, and our crews are working hard to get this completed as quickly and safely as possible. Our goal is to have this transition wrapped up and working smoothly with no issues heading into the holiday weekend.

We appreciate everyone’s patience as we work through the occasional “construction plot twist” that comes with projects like this. Progress is happening — even if yesterday felt a little more “adventure mode” than we planned.

Thank you for sticking with us as we continue improving Linn Valley’s water system for the long term. 💙

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact City Hall at 913.757.2926.

Thank you to everyone who came out to Saturday’s Town Hall meeting.

I appreciate everyone who took time out of their weekend to ask questions, share concerns, and talk about ideas for Linn Valley’s future. We had great discussions about the water project transition, emergency preparedness, and the beginning of our Comprehensive Plan update.

A few key takeaways from the discussion:

💧 Water Project Update
The project is continuing to move forward, with the water tower and fill station nearing completion and portions of the system already charged. As connections begin, residents should expect some temporary air and sediment in lines during transitions. We’ll continue communicating updates through TextMyGov and City Hall.

🚨 Emergency Preparedness
Jade Ward shared information on a new community emergency preparedness effort focused on disaster planning, citizen support roles, and improving emergency readiness. More information will be shared as this develops.

🏡 Planning Linn Valley’s Future
We discussed ideas for the future of Linn Valley including parks, community spaces, emergency shelters, infrastructure, economic development, and preserving what makes Linn Valley special. One thing I heard clearly: residents care deeply about this community.

This was intended to be more of a conversation than a presentation, and I appreciated hearing your thoughts, questions, and ideas. If you couldn’t attend but have feedback on what you’d like to see — or not see — in Linn Valley over the next 5, 10, or 20 years, please reach out to City Hall or email me at [email protected].

We won’t always have every answer immediately, but we will keep listening, keep communicating, and keep working to move Linn Valley forward together.

Thank you again to everyone who participated.
