Senior Outreach Services (SOS) is comprised of an array of organizations who serve and care for area seniors. MEMBERSHIP IS FREE!

Its purpose is to serve older adults and their families by offering a network of providers working together to enrich their lives. Senior Outreach Services; otherwise known as SOS, of the Greater Harrisburg Area, was founded by an array of organizations who work with and care for area seniors. Our goal is to enrich the lives of aging adults in our region by forming an alliance between care provide

rs, service providers, and a host of various organizations. SOS is built of a network of such members who not only support each other, but those who we work with and care for. SOS MEETS EVERY 2ND THURSDAY OF THE MONTH (EXCEPT WHEN NOTED) FROM 8:30-10:00 AM AT DIFFERENT MEMBER SITES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.

Our April SOS meeting took place at Columbia Cottage - Linglestown location,
with Rehab1 serving as our cohost.
Our featured speaker, Mary-Ann Brogden-Brandt, is a critical care clinical nurse specialist from Penn State Health with a focus on stroke and sepsis.
The discussion centered on sepsis, emphasizing the importance of prompt action.

The March meeting took place at Country Meadows of the West Shore, this morning.
The breakfast was exceptional. Our cohost was the dynamic duo, Joel and Shelly from Your PA Move Managers.
Our speaker was Chris Chamberlain, VP of Emergency Management with HAPevolve.

February's Senior Outreach Services meeting at Encompass Health Rehab Hospital in Mechanicsburg was a success, featuring Kahley Stewart from the American Heart Association's
Go Red for Women as our speaker.
We were also grateful for the generous donation of two beautiful baskets, congratulations to the winners! ❤️

Today at the new Personal Care Community in Carlisle, The Residence at Carlisle, cohosted by Bayada, was the venue for our January meeting.
We had the privilege of hearing from Ellen Abbott, Director of Development at LHM Social Services Foundation.
Ellen shed light on the transformative Transitional Housing Program, which is paving the way for brighter futures and empowering homeless families in our community to rebuild their lives.

Our SOS Holiday Party proved to be a huge success, and we would like to express our sincere appreciation to our generous sponsors, The Terraces at Capitol Village and Capitol Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.
A big thank you to Mick’s staff, the food and drinks were exceptional!

Our November SOS meeting was held at Bethany Village, co-hosted by Home Instead.
Our keynote speaker, Dr. Raj Dave’, an interventional cardiologist and vascular specialist, presented on the innovative treatment for osteoarthritis of the knee: Genicular Artery Embolization (G*E).
Thanks to everyone who attended, we had a great turnout today !

Today’s meeting took place at Harmony At Hershey and was co-hosted by Accent Care.
The featured speaker was Dr. Martin Sliwinski, Director of the Center for Healthy Aging at Penn State.
He presented on brain health, highlighting how our daily actions can have both positive and negative impacts on our brains.

Today, some of our SOS Steering Committee members participated in the Annual Neuro Games at Encompass Health Mechanicsburg. Although our team did not secure a medal, we had a fun day!

The August SOS meeting was held at Buhrig’s Gathering Place, co-hosted by CenterWell Home Health. Katie Dang, Attorney with Keystone Elder Law, presented her expertise on Estate and Medicaid planning, tailored for senior-focused professionals.
Thank you everybody for attending our meeting today.

The July meeting took place at Messiah Lifeways' Village Square Enrichment Center.
We received an update on Fernecrest, currently under construction in York County, with an anticipated opening in late summer 2027.
Ren Capacasale, representing Incite Health, delivered a fascinating presentation.
The discussion centered on harnessing the Power of Genomics to enhance and improve treatment outcomes and patient care.

Today we were grateful for beautiful weather as we had our summer picnic at The Bridges at Bent Creek. A big thank you to Amanda and her team for providing a perfect summer picnic meal.
