Twenty-five years ago, our great nation was attacked by a group of extremist terrorists. These terrorists took the lives of 2,977 innocent people. The nation came together that fateful day and our nation’s first responders did what they do best, they showed up in a time of need and did what had to be done. Since then, thousands of first responders have died due to illnesses contracted through their response that day. We stand and salute the American heroes who sacrificed their lives to protect others. May their sacrifice never be forgotten.

Good morning Lingle! We hope you all have a wonderful Labor Day weekend! The town offices will be closed on Monday, Sept. 7, in observance of the holiday. We will be back in action Tuesday morning.

At 6 p.m., the Doggers will combat the Wind River Cougars. Support your local athletes by showing up and cheering them on! Let's show them they have a great community behind them!

US National Weather Service Cheyenne Wyoming has issued a Flood Watch for Lingle and Goshen County. The watch indicates excessive rainfall is possible which could lead to flooding in the area. The watch is in effect from July 22 at 12 p.m. to July 24 at 12 a.m. According to the watch statement, "excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain."

Good morning, Lingle! The extended forecast shows temperatures in the upper 90s to the 100-degree mark. The chances of precipitation are very low, 0-5%, and the winds are expected to be around 15-20 mph. These conditions are dangerous not only in their ability to enhance fire danger, but also danger in heat illness.

Heat illness symptoms typically appear after one has already become dehydrated and overheated. These symptoms include heavy sweating, dizziness, fatigue, cramps, headaches, and nausea. If one is experiencing these symptoms, they should stop what they are doing, get somewhere cool and drink water and electrolyte drinks. Make sure not to chug cool water or other drinks as this could cause the sickness to worsen.

To prevent heat illness, drink plenty of fluids, take more frequent breaks, and keep activity levels lower to prevent overexertion. Wear clothing that is loose and allows airflow over the body. Additionally, wear protective clothing such as hats and sunglasses to prevent burns to the face and head. Using at least SPF 30 sunscreen can also block much of the UV rays emitted by the sun. Apply sunscreen generously and make sure to reapply as needed, typically around the two-hour mark.
