Today, we were honored to welcome eight firefighters from Copihue, Chile (Cuerpo de Bomberos de Retiro) to the home of the 1994 Smeal Fire Engine they proudly purchased from Chemical & Salvage Company #2 in 2020.
Their visit to our 39th Street Firehouse was a special opportunity to reconnect with the history of the apparatus and strengthen the bond between our two fire service families. The afternoon was filled with great conversation, refreshments, and the exchange of meaningful gifts, including department patches, stickers, and a beautiful commemorative shadow box.
Our guests also had the chance to tour the firehouse and see Lindenhurst’s new Engine 161, learning about the latest apparatus serving our community.
The fire service is built on tradition, camaraderie, and friendships that know no borders. We are grateful for the opportunity to host our brothers from Copihue and look forward to continuing this special international relationship for years to come.
Thank you for making the journey to Lindenhurst. ¡Hasta la próxima! 🇺🇸🤝🇨🇱🚒
