Congratulations to our former "probies," FF Christian Usman, FF Nicholas Tome and FF Nicholas Moreno for successfully completing their probationary period and being promoted to Firefighter. Over the past year they attended and graduated from the Morris County Fire Academy after completing a 15 week course where they received their FF I and FF II certificates, Hazmat Awareness and Operations, and Incident Management Level 1. In addition they attended a 220 hour EMT course, passed the National Registry EMT Test and are now certified EMTs. Additionally, they were assigned to their respective shifts and successfully completed all probationary requirements. Congratulations. Fire Chief William Hasko Jr.

Who: Eligibility Requirements: Must be between the ages of 18 and 34, a resident of Linden, U.S. Citizen, high school diploma or G.E.D., and valid NJ Driver License.

A big thank you to David Berube, the GM of the Wawa at 800 west Edgar Rd. for providing lunch for members of our department earlier this month. What an incredible week at the Linden Fire Department Junior Fire Academy! 🚒🔥

This year, we hosted 30 Jr Fire Academy cadets who received an exclusive, hands-on look at what it truly takes to be a firefighter. Over just one week, we witnessed a transformation that was nothing short of inspiring. These graduates showed up as individuals and left as a completely unified team, fully embodying the discipline, teamwork, and core values of the fire service.

Throughout their rigorous training at the Fire Academy, these cadets faced every challenge with grit and determination. They learned everything from how to move and operate hoselines, perform search and rescue operations in dark/unfamiliar environments, execute proper ventilation, and master intricate ropes and knots. They utilized extrication equipment to rescue victims inside or under a vehicle.

Their training didn't stop with fire maneuvers. They also trained as first responders, learning how to care for the injured by mastering CPR and utilizing Automatic External Defibrillation (AED) Machines. Because of their focus, every cadet is walking away with an official CPR certification. They are leaving this academy not just with new skills, but with the actual capability to save a life in their community.

Congratulations to our graduates! You make the City of Linden incredibly proud.

Firefighter Tadji Braxton was recently promoted to Lieutenant. Lieutenant Braxton joined the Linden Fire Department on April 1, 2005. In 2016 he graduated from New Jersey City University with a Bachelor's Degree in Fire Science. Tadji has been the apparatus operator on Engine 3 since 2013. With his promotion he will now be assigned to the training division. Congratulations on moving up the ladder. Fire Chief William Hasko Jr.
