We were toned out at 0230 this morning for a woods fire on 1841 about a mile outside of Bivins. Crews arrived to find 3 acres on fire with part of it being less than 10ft from a storage building, camper and house. Engine 91 from Center Hill station and Brush 91 from Kildare station got the fire under control by 0330 and TFS put a line around the rest of the fire. 5 structures in total were saved. Fire was a result of a trash pile that was burned last night. Crews cleared at 0545.

Unseasonably warm and dry conditions combined with freeze-cured grasses could spark more wildfires during the holidays.

Be cautious with any activity that could spark a wildfire. Approximately 90% of wildfires in Texas are caused by people and their activities, and during the winter holidays, debris burning and equipment use account for nearly 70% of them.

Follow local burn bans, maintain equipment properly, and take extra precautions during holiday activities to keep Texas safe. Read more at: https://tfsweb.tamu.edu/warm-dry-holiday-weather-elevates-wildfire-risk-across-texas/
