Northeastern Illinois University is asking for your help. Take action today (https://uillinois.quorum.us/campaign/47783/) and ask your state legislators to support Northeastern and higher education!

State legislative budget negotiations are happening now, and we need to ensure that Illinois higher education and Northeastern Illinois University remain priorities.

State funding is essential to public universities in Illinois and their students.

Please contact your state legislators and ask them to support Northeastern Illinois University by voting for a budget increase of 7% for state higher education.

Please ask the Illinois General Assembly to:

Northeastern prepares students to thrive in a multicultural world. It educates nearly 6,000 students each semester, employs over 1,000 faculty and staff members, and has more than 70,000 alumni living in Illinois.

The Illinois General Assembly is scheduled to vote on the budget on May 19 or shortly thereafter. Students and the people of Illinois deserve a robust Northeastern. They need state funding to help continue providing a world-class education for students and jobs for Illinoisans.

Excellent news! Thank you Alexi Giannoulias, Illinois Secretary of State, State Senator Ram Villivalam, Kevin Olickal, and Governor JB Pritzker !

The Illinois Senate has passed a measure that would help to prevent the practice of banning books, which Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias says is in response to efforts in other states to restrict access to reading materials for political and personal reasons.

The mail in ballots have now been counted and the results are even better than they were on Tuesday. Lincolnwood has spoken. Lincolnwood believes in the Freedom to Read. Lincolnwood believes in Democracy. Lincolnwood believes in transparency, inclusiveness, and respect for all. We thank you all.

We love the Lincolnwood Library and the residents of Lincolnwood love their Freedom To Read! There’s still ballots to be counted but it’s safe to say that we won!
