Traffic Alert from Vernon Area Public Library.

🚨 NEW TRAFFIC PATTERN THRU SEPTEMBER 19 🚨
ComEd is currently completing a utility construction project at the library parking lot entrance. Work is expected to conclude on Saturday, September 19. To improve safety and traffic flow, be aware of these changes:

• ENTRANCE IS ENTRANCE ONLY: You may enter the library parking lot as usual, but must exit through the back of the lot.
• EXIT THROUGH FIRE LANE: The fire lane at the back of the library is open as a temporary ONE-WAY EXIT. Cars will exit this way onto Indian Creek Rd.
• SIDEWALK CLOSED: As part of the project, the sidewalk along Olde Half Day Road directly in front of the library (between Indian Creek Road and Half Day Road) is also closed. A pedestrian detour route is posted.

🚧 Please exercise extreme caution when entering or exiting the library campus and surrounding area. Please allow extra time for your visit, use extra care driving through the narrowed entrance, and watch for other cars, pedestrians, and cyclists. You may consider visiting during off-peak hours to minimize disruption. Thank you for your patience during this disruption.

Today, we remember.

In the aftermath of 9/11, Officer Jamie Watson—now retired—and Police Explorer Christopher Covelli—now with the Lake County Sheriff's Department answered the call, traveling to New York City to assist at Ground Zero. Their courage, like that of so many others, reminds us of the strength and unity that emerged from tragedy.

We honor the lives lost and the heroes who served.
