The Lincoln Police Department was honored to receive its Maine Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (MLEAP) plaque from the Maine Chiefs of Police Association.

The presentation was made by retired Police Chief Jim Willis, MLEAP Program Manager, and Brunswick Police Chief Scott Stewart, President of the Maine Chiefs of Police Association.

MLEAP accreditation demonstrates that our department meets professional standards and follows recognized best practices in law enforcement. Achieving accreditation required a thorough review of our policies, procedures, training, operations, and accountability practices.

This accomplishment would not have been possible without the commitment and hard work of our entire staff. We sincerely thank everyone who contributed to the process, including our employees, town officials, assessors, and the many individuals who offered their guidance and assistance along the way.

We are proud to be an MLEAP-accredited agency and remain committed to providing professional, accountable, and effective law enforcement services to the Town of Lincoln.

The Lincoln Police Department would like to sincerely thank the Knights of Columbus for hosting a special ceremony recognizing the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

We greatly appreciate everyone at the Knights of Columbus Hall who worked so hard to organize this meaningful remembrance and provide a meal for our local first responders afterward. Your continued support and recognition mean more to us than you know.

A special thank-you to Frank Nicastro for his efforts in bringing everyone together for this important occasion.

We will never forget those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, and we remain forever grateful to the first responders who answered the call that day.

Former RSU No. 67 Employee Arrested Following Theft Investigation

On September 8, 2026, the Lincoln Police Department arrested Adam Mahaney, 43, of Lincoln, following an investigation involving suspected financial irregularities associated with his former employment with RSU No. 67.

Mahaney was charged with Theft by Unauthorized Taking or Transfer, 17-A M.R.S. § 353(1)(B)(1), a Class B felony, and Misuse of Entrusted Property, 17-A M.R.S. § 903(1)(A), a Class C felony.

The investigation began on August 18, 2026, after the Lincoln Police Department was contacted by RSU No. 67 Superintendent Mike Harvey regarding suspected financial irregularities involving Mahaney. Mahaney had been employed by the school district since mid-2025 and, as part of his employment, was responsible for processing the district's payroll.

As the investigation continued and additional information was obtained and reviewed, the amount involved was determined to exceed $10,000, resulting in the Class B felony theft charge.

Detective Stu Jacobs continues to follow up on information related to this case, and the investigation remains ongoing. Because this is an active investigation, no additional details are being released at this time.

Please be advised that West Broadway will be closed overnight from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, beginning Sunday, August 30 through Thursday, September 3.

Closure Hours: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
Dates: August 30 – September 3
Alternate Route: Penobscot Valley Avenue to Enfield Road

Motorists should plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use the designated alternate route during the closure.
