For Getting Ahead graduate Jax, relationships are everything.

When reflecting on her experience in the Getting Ahead While Getting Out workshop (a division of Getting Ahead for folks who have been incarcerated and are ready for a fresh start), she shared with us that anyone who takes the course will learn that you can never have too many people in your corner.

Getting Ahead is all about deepening your connection to yourself, your fellow Investigators and to the world around you. It’s no easy task to try and make change on your own, but with Getting Ahead, you’ll gain both the skills to do so and a community that will support you through it all.

Tomorrow is the last day to reserve your spot at orientation, so sign up with the link below to start your journey.

On May 16th, we had the honor of once again partnering with 92.9 The Eagle (KTGL) for the Combat Hunger food drive, which celebrated its 25th anniversary!

Food donations were collected until the end of the month, with over 1,400 pounds being donated in total. When combined with financial gifts, the result is more than 4,300 meals for our neighbors in Southeast Nebraska.

Thank you to everyone who donated and to everyone who came together to make this wonderful event possible! 🧡

Volunteer Hall of Fame Spotlight: Dennis and Janet Wickersham

Dennis and Janet Wickersham have been volunteering at the Food Bank of Lincoln for a combined total of 21 years, and in that time, this power couple has done incredible work to support our neighbors.

Dennis started his tenure here 16 years ago (with Janet joining him for the past five) when the Food Bank was located near their home. Following our facility move to Northwest Lincoln, they’ve generously brought their service to our new location—and their enjoyment of the workout their volunteer efforts provides!

Their hours volunteering have gifted Dennis and Janet with fulfilling activity post-retirement and a community in the staff and their fellow volunteers that keeps them coming back year after year.

Whether it’s assisting with projects in the front office or sorting donations, Dennis and Janet are endlessly sharing their giving spirits with us and our neighbors—and we’re so thankful to have them here.
