The Ponca Tribal Home Visiting Program currently operates in the Omaha and Lincoln areas, offering parenting support, cultural lessons and activities, and connections to community resources for families of children prenatal to 5 years old.
THV would like to expand to all Ponca service areas, but needs your help! Talking circles will take place this year to decide if services are desired, and what would be helpful for families in Norfolk, Niobrara, and Sioux City.
To RSVP, please scan our QR code or visit https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1fzARFDXciIuAeAl3cM3lUY4Ks1ghw1o8uSYjKKCT6iA/edit?ts=6a4ef07f. A meal, childcare, and gifts will be included. For more information about THV, please contact Director Abbi Miranda-Carreto at [email protected]

Meet Community Health Worker Julie Flynn!

Hello! My name is Julie Flynn, and I have been a Community Health Worker for nearly three years. I am an enrolled Ponca member, a proud mother of four, and a grandmother of four.

I enjoy working for the Tribe because it gives me the opportunity to give back to my community, especially our Elders and our younger generations. I hope that through the work I do, I can help our youth learn who they are, understand where they come from, and stay connected to their culture and community.

Being there for our Elders is especially important to me. Not everyone has someone they can turn to or connect with. Whether I’m serving an Elder lunch, helping someone find housing, connecting them with resources, or helping them get to a doctor’s appointment, every interaction matters.

Everything is a connection, and I want to be one of those dots that helps connect our people to what they need.

Meet Community Health Worker Ava Steadman!

Hello! My name is Ava Steadman, and I am a Community Health Worker who is also currently attending nursing school. I have been with the Tribe for a little under a year, and I truly enjoy being part of a community where I can learn, grow, and make a positive difference.

One of my favorite parts of being a CHW is participating in our Elder Lunches. I enjoy connecting with our Elders, providing health education and support, and most importantly, building meaningful relationships with them.

I am also passionate about advocating for others and helping our members connect with community and clinical resources that meet their individual needs. Sometimes, simply helping someone find the right resource or making sure they feel heard can make a meaningful difference.

Working for the Tribe has allowed me to grow both personally and professionally while doing work that has a purpose. I am grateful for the opportunity
