Prescribed Burn in Pioneers Park Scheduled for May 20th

Parks and Recreation staff will conduct a prescribed burn from Noon to 4 p.m., Wednesday, May 20, on about 6 acres north of the sled hill in Pioneers Park.

The equestrian trail located on the sled hill will be closed from noon to 4 PM Wednesday. Access to the Pioneers Park Nature Center will remain open. Community members are advised to avoid the area during this project.

Prescribed burns are a tool to manage large areas of native plants and grasses, reduce wildfire risk, and enhance wildlife habitat. Parks staff monitor weather and air quality conditions to ensure safe burns.

For more information on the project, contact Druery at 402-499-1044. For more information about Parks and Recreation, visit parks.lincoln.ne.gov
