National Police Week is not only about the names etched on memorial walls. It is about the lives behind those names, the families who carry their memory, the agencies that still feel their absence, and the calling that continues through every officer who puts on the badge today.

We honor the law enforcement officers who gave their lives in the line of duty, and we stand with the survivors, coworkers, and loved ones who carry that loss long after the ceremonies end.

To those still serving our communities with courage, integrity, and compassion, thank you. The badge represents more than a profession. It represents sacrifice, responsibility, and a promise to serve, even on the hardest days.

This week, and always, we remember the fallen, support their families, and recognize the men and women who continue to answer the call.

Theres a parade and fallen soldiers service in Lincoln Park this Sunday - May 17th at 1 pm. As Director for The John D Dingell Memorial Day Parade, I'm always striding for improvment. I'm excited to announce, for Americas 250th we have included some very special guests. Two of the real Rosie the Rivators and The Downriver Rosies. As a reminder, Fort St will close at noon so come early or drive side streets to Memorial Park. See you there!

Attention residents: We want to inform you about an upcoming project being conducted by the school district at the LPPS Administration Building, located at 1650 Champaign Road.
There will be two nights of construction activity at the LPPS Administration Building, 1650 Champaign Road, between 12:00 AM and 7:00 AM on Monday, April 27th, and Thursday, April 30th. Residents in the area have already been notified of this upcoming project.

The tennis courts are being built with post-tension concrete slabs, which require slow cable tightening overnight to ensure proper curing. Completing this work overnight prevents the daylight from speeding up the curing process. Generators will provide lighting, which may cause some noise and light disturbances, but efforts will be made to minimize the impact on the neighborhood. Thank you for your understanding as the school district works to complete this project.

Are you interested in running for office for the City of Lincoln Park? Nominating petitions for the 2026 election are available at city hall in the Clerk's Office.

Persons circulating nominating petitions must be:
• A Lincoln Park resident for at least 30 days
• A qualified registered voter of the city

Petitions must contain the signatures of at least twenty-five but not more than fifty registered voters of the City of Lincoln Park.

The deadline for submission of nominating petitions for the local office is April 21, 2026, at 4:00 p.m.
