Our first STEM Discovery Night is coming this fall! Designed for students in Grades K-5 and their families, this evening will give families an opportunity to experience hands-on STEM activities. Join us Monday, October 5, from 6-8 PM at the MSSM campus.

MSSM soccer kicked off the 2026 season on Friday, September 4, at Central Aroostook in Mars Hill. Both Penguin teams fought hard, but came up short in their opening games. The Penguins are back in action Tuesday, September 8, at Fort Fairfield. On Wednesday, September 9, the boys travel to Southern Aroostook in Dyer Brook while the girls play at Easton. Our first home games are Friday, September 11, when we host Central Aroostook. The girls' game starts at 5 PM, and the boys follow at 7 PM.

MSSM students recently held the annual Club Fair, giving clubs a chance to recruit new members and show off what they have planned for the year. With groups ranging from Botany and Key Club (Volunteering) to Wellness, Robotics, Media Club, and many more, students had plenty of opportunities to find something that matched their interests or try something completely new. All first-year students attended the event.

Clubs are a big part of life at MSSM. They give students a chance to explore interests outside the classroom, build skills, meet new people, and help shape the campus community.

A beautiful Saturday at Aroostook State Park gave students a chance to get outside, move, and enjoy one of northern Maine’s best outdoor spots. After a short bus ride from campus, students spent the day swimming in Echo Lake, reading by the water, playing outdoor games, hiking the trails around Quaggy Jo Mountain, and sharing bagged lunches and pizza.

The trip centered on movement, one of the five pillars of self-care, but it also gave everyone a chance to relax, spend time with friends, and enjoy a great late-summer day together. It was a great way to continue building community.

MSSM was happy to welcome WAGM-TV to campus yesterday as they filmed a segment for their Discover Aroostook series. Their team spent time talking with MSSM students and staff about our school, our community, and what makes the experience here unique. We’re looking forward to seeing the finished story when it airs in September, and we’ll be sure to share links when it becomes available.

WAGM also came bearing gifts from their previous filming stop. Taste Of Maine Potato Chips sent along several bags for us to enjoy. We already love their chips, and we’re especially proud that they are made right here in Limestone. We’re hoping to have some small bags available for visitors at our upcoming Open Houses, too.

Thank you to WAGM-TV for spending part of the day with us, and to Taste of Maine Potato Chips for the very tasty surprise. We can't wait to see the Discover Aroostook series.

The Residential Assistants are getting moved in, but took a break for a cookout put on by the Student Life Staff. They’re getting the dorm ready for all the new students coming in tomorrow. There’s a buzz around campus and everyone is excited for the new year.

Congratulations to rising senior Easton Allen for winning the narrative category at the Maine Student Film & Video Festival for his film “Yellow.” The student festival is part of the Maine International Film Festival in Waterville, Maine. The film follows a first-year student’s arrival at a boarding school. Over time, he grows homesick and depressed in isolation, evident by a darkening gray tint in his skin. Luckily, an upperclassman notices him. Yellow explores themes of independence, mental health, and empathy. The dynamic colors are accompanied by an original score that Easton composed with the guidance of music instructor Brett Vanderlaan over an independent study last semester.
