Well, the last paper has been put to bed. It gives a great history of the paper. You can pick up a copy at Kwik Star and Alco in Cresco, Motor Mart in Chester, LeRoy Independent, Travel Plaza at Lime Springs and on Thursday at Times Plain Dealer. Also, KTTC news interviewed Editor Marcie Klomp on the final issue. Look for a story on it tonight maybe at 6 or 10.

Here is an update on the H-W School Board meeting from last night: There is a work session on Monday, Dec. 15 at the high school media center, at 7 p.m. Board secretary Clint Farlinger has software that enables him to input different numbers to check out what those changes would mean to the budget in three years. The audience will not be able to talk, but it will probably be very informative.
Also, there will be a chance for anyone to speak at a meeting before any decision is made on closing or keeping open the Lime Springs school.
Several times at the meeting, Supt. John Carver stated he is happy to talk to anyone with questions or thoughts. You can call the school or his cell phone at any time.

There was no decision made at the school board meeting on the LS school.
The school board did decide to not pursue changing the name of the district at this time.

Reminder: The Howard-Winneshiek School Board meeting is taking place in Lime Springs tonight. When you get there, you have to sign in. If you are not on the agenda and want to speak, at the very beginning of the meeting is Open Forum. You have to sign a different booklet to be heard. You will have three minutes to say your peace.
Hope to see a lot of folks there to show their support of the school and Lime Springs.

Lime Springs Herald made a huge error in this week’s article on Meals from the Heartland. The correct numbers for meals packaged is 131,976, which is 21,996 bags. Not 131,976 bags and 750,000 meals.
The Herald apologizes to the committee and community for the misunderstanding.
