Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Central Ohio

Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Central Ohio Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Central Ohio currently serves children in Allen, Hancock, Hardin, Paulding, Putnam, and Van Wert counties. You’re not alone!

Our programs are about spending time with a child in a one-to-one relationship. We support match relationships in two different settings:

School-based: Bigs and Littles meet once a week in schools, libraries and/or at lunch, to talk and have fun. It’s not about being a tutor…it’s about being a friend – someone they can rely on to see every week. Community-based: Bigs and Littles meet 2 to 4 times

a month and the time spent together is flexible to fit your busy schedule. Matches can hang out in the community and go to parks, sports events, movies, and more. It’s up to you and your Little! When you’re part of something Big, you’re not alone. Each match is supported by professional Match Support Specialists who regularly check in with volunteers, children, and parents, and are always available to answer your questions. Throughout the year your agency sponsors activities that you and your Little can participate in.

Tomorrow is the big day for our Allen County Golf for Kids' Sake ⛳🏌️‍♂️. To say we are blown away by our supporters, is truly an UNDERSTATEMENT! 💕🥳 Looking forward to being out at Hidden Creek Golf Club tomorrow for our 9am shotgun start! Shout out to Arby's for providing everyone lunch. Wrapping up the day for dinner, door prizes, awards, and a huge silent auction at Buffalo Wild Wings!
Please give these businesses and individuals a round of applause, a like, a share, a shout out, a follow, and visit. 100% of this event's proceeds will stay in Allen County and be used to provide program supplies for our 10 Allen County schools and our growing list of Active Matches ❤️‍🔥 and Waiting Enrollments 💫. Additionally, this support helps us complete the necessary background checks on incoming mentors, program administrative costs (aka hours of computer inputs!), and staff trainings.

Our mission continues because of 💥YOUR💥 support. Thank you for joining us!

Building Resiliency with Youth: A How-To Guide for Safe Adults is a free community education session designed to help parents, grandparents, mentors, volunteers, and other caring adults better understand the challenges young people face and how to respond in ways that promote resilience and healthy development. Participants will learn how adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) can impact youth behavior, emotional well-being, and decision-making, while gaining practical tools to strengthen communication, build trust, and support young people through adversity.

For families involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Central Ohio, Inc., this training provides valuable insight into the experiences many youth encounter and equips adults with strategies to create supportive, nurturing relationships. By helping caregivers and mentors better understand trauma, stress, and resilience, the session strengthens the support network surrounding our Littles, fostering improved emotional well-being, stronger family connections, and greater opportunities for youth to thrive both at home and in the community. Through education and awareness, we can work together to ensure every young person has the caring adults they need to reach their full potential.

In Putnam County, 1 out of every 5 students surveyed in 2025-2026 PRIDE survey said that during their life, they felt like they were never or rarely able to talk to an adult in their family or another caring adult about their feelings. Only 35% of surveyed students felt like they could always talk about their feelings.

Want to learn how to improve your communication with teens or young adults in your life? This FREE 1 hour education session “Building Resiliency with Youth: A How To Guide for Safe Adults” is an opportunity to learn practical skills to help foster connection with the young person in your life. The event will be on June 24th at the Leipsic Community Center following the Community Meal.

💚 Thank You, Lima Moose Lodge 199! 💚

Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Central Ohio, Inc. would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the members and leadership of the Lima Moose Lodge 199 for their generous donation in support of youth mentoring in Allen County.

Support from community partners like Lima Moose Lodge 199 is essential to continuing our mission of creating and supporting one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of young people. These funds help ensure that we can sustain and grow our school-based and community-based mentoring programs, serving youth throughout Allen County with positive role models, meaningful opportunities, and life-changing support.

As funding challenges continue to impact nonprofits across the country, local partnerships become even more important. We are incredibly grateful for Lima Moose Lodge 199's ongoing commitment to investing in the future of our youth and strengthening our community.

Thank you, Lima Moose Lodge 199, for believing in the power of mentorship and for continuing to stand beside Big Brothers Big Sisters. Together, we are helping young people achieve their full potential. 💚✨
