Welcome to Lima West Middle School! As principal, I plan to establish positive, productive relationships within the school and community while maintaining a focus of helping all students learn, grow and feel like real human beings. While providing opportunities for all students, the professional and caring staff members will implement and establish a “Spartan P.R.I.D.E.” that all students will exp

erience while at West. Promote & Establish High Expectations

As we work to establish the academic rigor mandated by the Ohio Department of Education, we will also provide opportunities to help create and develop a well-rounded individual. Students will have opportunities to participate in Choir, Band and Orchestra. As well as the opportunity to participate in local and regional Spelling Bees, Quiz Bowl and school-wide fundraisers that will benefit both the school and community. West also has a CTAG (Closing the Achievement Gap) program in which students receive mentors and positive role models to help reinforce the importance of positive values and academic success. The CTAG mentors will assist students in establishing and reaching their goal of receiving a high school diploma while promoting career explorations or continuing their educational career at the college level. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities as members of the TRAC (Three Rivers Athletic Conference) as they compete in football, cross-country, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, baseball, softball and track. As the students at West Middle School begin to develop into young adults, I believe it is important to develop positive and productive relationships with the parents and/or guardians as well. This relationship is crucial and will help ensure the student, parent(s)/guardians(s) and staff are working together to provide the best education possible. I am proud to be a Spartan and look forward to developing and instilling that Spartan PRIDE in all of the students at West Middle School. I also welcome the opportunity to show you around West. As we take the tour, I believe you will see the positive, productive relationships between students and staff members that allow each student the opportunity to learn, grow, and feel like a real human being. West Girls CTAG got to spend a couple hours with their basketball mentors from UNOH. Their mentors took them on a tour of the college, showed them their dorm rooms, classrooms and gave them a little insight on how college life is. They also got to work out in the indoor sports complex and have some fun time at the Racers gymnasium!
