This morning, Engine 2 and Tanker 8 responded on a working fire assignment at the request of Perry Township Fire Department. We are always ready and willing to help our neighbors.

At approximately 3:55 a.m., PTFD responded to a commercial structure fire at Plastipak. Thanks to the quick response and coordinated efforts of all agencies involved, crews worked together to bring the incident under control safely and efficiently.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to our mutual aid partners from Shawnee Township Fire Department, Bath Township Fire Department, Lima Fire Department, Westminster Rural Fire Dept., and
Cridersville Volunteer Fire Department for their assistance and professionalism throughout the incident.

We would also like to thank the Plastipak employees and management team for their cooperation and support throughout the incident.

Today, we remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness will never be forgotten.

As we spend time with family and friends this Memorial Day, we ask everyone to take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of the day and remember those who gave everything for our freedom.

From all of us at Shawnee Twp Fire Department, thank you to our fallen heroes and the families who carry their legacy forward.

As we draw towards the end of this Mother’s Day, C-Shift invited our significant others and families to the fire station for a family dinner. We understand that these people are some of our biggest supporters as we get to do the job that we love, and would not be able to do so without their love and support.

Yesterday morning, Shawnee Twp Fire crews including Engine 2, Ladder 5, Medic 10, Car 2, and Car 1 responded to the Shawnee Weekday Early Learning Center for a reported fire. Our compliments to the staff at the center for being top notch with the evacuation of the children in a very efficient manor and keeping them out of harms way. Their staff not only utilized their training to effect a safe and rapid evacuation of all of the children at the facility but assisted fire crews with location of the fire and building information that was needed.

** All children were evacuated safely and accounted for. ***

Shawnee Township Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at Shawnee Weekday Preschool. Crews arrived promptly and had the fire under control within three minutes.

Most importantly, every child is safe. All students were evacuated and transported to Shawnee United Methodist Church. Amber is coordinating reunification for parents and guardians.

Thank you to the preschool staff for their quick actions and to our community for their support.

Thank you Cenovus Refinery for allowing us to train with the ERT team today. This gives us knowledge on how to fight flammable liquid and high pressure gas fires. Working together in training makes us all a better team when time matters. Trustees Neff and Gross also joined us today to learn some of what we do.

Thank-You, Shawnee Township Community
