Our Therapeutic Horticulture program is one of the finalists for the National Garden Bureau’s Therapeutic Garden Grant, which would provide funding to help us expand accessibility at the Farm at Penny Lane. The grant would allow us to add several new raised beds and shade cloths to the garden to make it easier for participants with a range of mobility and sensory needs to comfortably participate throughout the seasons.

As part of the grant, there is a public voting process, and the top voted project gets the largest amount of funding support. Please watch our video and cast a vote for "NC Botanical Garden – The Farm at Penny Lane" using the link below:

💧 TRASH TALKIN’ TUESDAY: Straight from the river to your tap. 💧

Let's talk about where your morning coffee or your glass of water comes from. If you live or work in Harnett County, your drinking water is drawn directly from the Cape Fear River.
Now, think about the plastic bottles, fast-food bags, and styrofoam cups floating along our riversides.
• The Connection: Runoff carries that roadside litter into the river upstream of our water intake facilities. While our water treatment plants do an incredible job filtering and purifying our water, the sheer volume of plastic waste presents an ongoing challenge.
• The Threat: Decomposing plastics leach chemical additives into the water source, affecting the overall health of the entire river basin ecosystem.
The most effective water filter is a human being holding a trash grabber.

By conducting a targeted litter sweep along roads, parking lots, and river access areas, you are actively protecting the quality of our community's drinking water before it ever enters a pipe. Protect your tap, and host a cleanup today! 🚰🌊

Help us reduce the number of fatal building collisions in NC!

There are many ways you can help make the skies a little darker for birds during fall migration (August 15-November 30).

💡 Turn off lights at night
💡 Especially upward-facing lights
💡 Extinguish pot and flood lights
💡 Install automatic motion sensors and controls whenever possible
💡 Close blinds and curtains
💡 If you work in an office building, ask your employer to turn out exterior upward-facing lights, as well as interior office lights from 11pm to dawn.
