On May 2, 2026, the Department of Water (DOW) participated in the Visitor Industry Charity Walk, which supports charities and nonprofit organizations on Kaua'i. These services help strengthen social services, education and well-being for our customers.

We were honored to have the Chief of Police Rudy Tai and Deputy Chief Mark Ozaki stop by. Kauai's finest deserve the world's finest drinking water.

5:55 a.m. (FINAL UPDATE) - Water line repair work has been completed, and water service has been restored. DOW crews are currently flushing the system through an open hydrant. DOW crews will remain on the scene to do road repair work. If you are experiencing a water service outage, please call 808-245-5444, between 6 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

5:30 a.m. (UPDATE) - Portions of Weke Road, in the vicinity of Anae Road are also affected.

4:30 a.m. 05-29-2026 HANALEI - Emergency water service shutdown on a section of Kuhio Highway (between Malolo Road and Aku Road), for approximately 3 hours. DOW crews are repairing two water lines that were struck by a contractor.

1:10 p.m. 05-28-2026 KEKAHA - Emergency water service shutdown on a portion of Akialoa Road, affecting 3 houses and the graveyard, for approximately 2 hours. DOW crews are repairing the mainline.

7:20 a.m. 05-28-2026 KŌLOA - Emergency water service shutdown on a section of Poipu Road, between Paanau Road and Borthwick Kauai Mortuary, for approximately 2 hours. DOW crews are repairing a portion of the line that was damaged by a contractor.

12:45 p.m. (UPDATE) – Water service has been restored.

11:50 a.m. 05-24-2026 KEKAHA - Emergency water service shutdown on Kekaha Road and Akialoa Road, for approximately 1 hour while DOW crews repair the mainline.

2:50 p.m. 05-21-2026 KŌLOA - Water service has been restored on Poipu Road. At 2:05 p.m., a contractor struck the mainline along a section of Poipu Road, between Paanau Road and Borthwick Kauai Mortuary. DOW crews have since repaired the line.

7:00 p.m. (UPDATE) - All lanes are now open, and the emergency repair work has been completed. DOW crews were able to isolate the leak, and no customers were affected.

5:40 p.m. 05-18-2026 KAPAʻA - One northbound lane is open, with a lane shift in the southbound direction on a portion of Kūhiō Highway in the vicinity of Aleka Loop. DOW crews are conducting emergency water line repairs. Updates will be posted here and at kauiwater.org.

4:10 p.m. 05-17-2026 KAPA'A (Wailua Homesteads) - A hydrant was struck on Kamalu Road, resulting in low pressure, and a temporary water service interruption which also affected portions of Opaekaa Road and Kuamoo Road. Water service has since been restored.
