1:15 p.m. 09-14-2026 ELEELE - DOW crews are inspecting water lines and running a series of test water shutdowns on Akalei Street until approximately 2 p.m. Customers can expect intermittent, temporary water outages during the series of test shutdowns.

--Update: Southbound lane on Kūhiō Highway reopened following emergency water repairs Sept. 13--

5:15 p.m. UPDATE: All lanes are now reopened.

LĪHUʻE: The Department of Water (DOW) announces, effective immediately, there is a one southbound lane closure on a portion of Kūhiō Highway between Hardy Street and Poinciana Street. Emergency water service repair work is set to begin at approximately 10 a.m.

Emergency water service shutdown is expected to last until approximately 12 p.m. Road repair work is expected to last until approximately 3 p.m.

Traffic Advisory

Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to slow down and allow extra travel time through the work zone area.

9 p.m. 09-12-2026 KEKAHA - Water has been restored. Earlier, DOW crews were dispatched to a reported leak and repaired a water line in the vicinity of Kekaha Road.

3:45 p.m. KAPAA - (Routine) Emergency water service shutdown on Sokei Road for approximately 2 hours for a service lateral repair.

3:20 p.m. KILAUEA - Water has been restored. At 1:30 p.m. DOW crews repaired a water line on Kalihiwai Road.

Boil Water Notice canceled for Kilauea

LĪHUʻE – The Department of Water (DOW) has canceled the precautionary Boil Water Notice for the Kilauea Water System, effective immediately.

Laboratory results on the samples collected on September 11, 2026, indicate the water is safe for consumption. No further customer action is required at this time and customers in the Kilauea area may now resume normal water use.

The Boil Water Notice was issued as a precautionary measure following the aftermath of Hurricane Lowell.

--URGENT REMINDER: Water conservation in effect for Kauaʻi)--

LĪHUʻE – The Department of Kauai (DOW) reminds its customers of the island wide water conservation notice. Water pumps are running on emergency powered generators. To avoid a water outage, DOW urges its customers to limit water to essential needs only, including cooking, drinking, personal hygiene, laundry, and sanitation. Water conservation measures include turning off fixtures and equipment that automatically draw water, such as ice machines and irrigation systems.

This notice will remain active until the conservation notice is lifted.
