A Little Background:
When the pandemic started it raised a huge awareness in a lot of us that building up our defense system within our bodies is one of the most crucial elements in survival.
So we started to look more into how to build up the immune system and microbiome of our bodies. Not only that, but how to live minimally and sustainably, to learn soil regeneration in order to grow the most nutrient rich foods, to rely on plant-based medicines instead of chemical pharmaceuticals, and so much more.
Genesis 1:11- Then God said, "Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds." And it was so.
The awareness grew into a passion and dream of one day having a type of learning center, for like minded parents to bring their kids, as a type of sanctuary from the unbelievable things being taught in public schools, and the world in general these days.

A Little History:
The whole idea started with Community Kuleana, founded in 2020. Kuleana is a Hawaiian word meaning our βright or responsibilityβ. It is our right and responsibility as a community to begin teaching our future generations the importance of sustainable living. Community Kuleana- Permanent Agricultural Sustainability.
Community Kuleana is a private member association ministry, where members can contribute and donate land that will be made into a permanent fixture with a food forest. The long term goal is that each piece of land will have a free/donation only learning center on property, Keiki of the Dirt. Just so happens we have a location to start the learning center before we have the donated land. Hopefully that will come soon!
We could not let this property pass us by in order to get the learning center going. In the day we live in with the way the public schools are headed, we knew this was of the utmost importance. Keiki of the Dirt- Nurturing Our Sprouts. Now we are faced with the task of quickly pulling all the strings together, and after doing the math, all of those strings added up really quickly.
βοΈMILESTONE #1- Starting our FIRST Keiki of the Dirt Learning Center:
Of course there are the normal things like rent, utilities, and paying a teacher, etc., and then we are also faced with getting the property set up properly to accommodate a learning center, advertising, legalities, etc.. This learning center will specifically cater to preschool and kindergarten ages to start on a more set schedule (mornings) throughout each week. However we will also offer Hawaiiana and other programs for kids ages 3 to 12 years old certain times of the day (afternoons). We want our parents to be involved as much as possible, not just on school property but also at home, carrying over our lessons into their household to help give the keiki a sense of togetherness, wholeness and routine that they can perpetuate, knowing that does not start and stop here, but should be a practice that they carry through their lives.
βοΈβοΈMILESTONE #2- The dream goes on:
This learning center is only the start. We also have a warehouse space close by the learning center, with a huge office area that can be turned into rooms for computer classes, home economics, art classes etc., for kids fifth grade through 12th grade. Once we reach our first milestone in getting the learning center established and running smoothly, we plan to expand over to offer a wider variety of programs, to more kids of different ages.
βοΈβοΈβοΈMILESTONE #3- βUa Mau ke Ea o ka Κ»Δina i ka Ponoβ: βThe life of the land is perpetuated in righteousnessβ
We already have a couple potential land donations in which, once we reach this phase, we would be able to start immediate clearing and prepping for development of a thriving food forest, as a permanent fixture in the community. We plan to have multiple properties with these food forest structures throughout the islands and expanding to other islands in Hawaii, and hopefully onto the mainland from there. Again each property will have a Learning Center to offer βfree/donation onlyβ schooling for like-minded individuals.
