I know the community is still cleaning up, but sadly looks like we are in the path again Wednesday

Here are our Key Messages for Wednesday (6/17).

Storm cleanup can wait. Safety cannot.

After last night’s severe weather, please use extra caution around damaged trees, fallen limbs and power lines.

Before you start cleaning up:

⚡ Look up for damaged limbs, leaning trees or wires caught in branches
⚡ Stay far away from any downed or sagging power line
⚡ Never try to move branches or debris that may be touching electrical equipment
⚡ Keep children and pets away from damaged areas
⚡ Report downed lines or electrical hazards immediately
⚡ Call 911 if there is an immediate safety threat

Even if a line looks harmless, assume it is energized. Please give crews room to work and stay safe as restoration continues.

Happy Flag Day!

Evergy crews are working to restore power after severe storms, including two confirmed tornadoes, moved through Kansas and the Kansas City metro area Saturday evening, causing outages to more than 102,000 customers. As of 8 a.m. Sunday, power has been restored to about 75% of those impacted.

The band of storms stretched from Wichita to east of Kansas City, and brought heavy rain and 55+ mph straight-line winds. The storm impacted hundreds of electrical circuits as winds damaged power lines and trees, blowing debris into lines. While the storms caused outages in many Kansas communities, the most significant damage is in the Kansas City metro area. Evergy crews worked through the night as conditions allowed and will continue to restore power until all customers are back on.

If you see a downed power line, stay at least 30 feet away and assume it is energized. Call 911 immediately, then contact Evergy.
