National Police Week is May 15–21, and this week we’re shining the spotlight on the incredible men and women of the Liberty Police Department.

Day in and day out, our officers show up ready to serve, protect, and support this community no matter the situation. They work long hours, respond in difficult moments, and continue to give their all to keep Liberty safe.

Their commitment, sacrifice, courage, and heart deserve to be recognized not just this week, but every single day.

Thank you to the officers of the Liberty Police Department for your service, your dedication, and the pride you bring to this city. Liberty is stronger because of you.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Greenwood Police Department, the family of Officer DJ Keller, and all who knew and loved him during this incredibly difficult time.

Officer Keller tragically lost his life in the line of duty on May 11, 2026, while faithfully serving his community. We honor his service, sacrifice, and commitment to protecting others.

Please keep everyone affected in your thoughts as they navigate this heartbreaking loss.

Attention: Owner of the red 2011 dodge Avenger that has been parked at the gymnasium for several days.

Please contact the Liberty Parks and recreation department immediately regarding your vehicle. If the vehicle is not removed from the parking lot by Tuesday, May 12th, 2026, it will be towed at the owner's expense.

This week, April 12–18, the City of Liberty Police Department recognizes National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week and the dedicated professionals who answer every call for help.

Our dispatchers are the steady voice on the other end of the line, providing guidance, support, and coordination during some of the most critical moments in our community. Their work often happens behind the scenes, but its impact is felt every single day.

We are grateful for their commitment to keeping Liberty safe and connected. Thank you for all you do!

Road closures along S. Commerce Street will begin at midnight to allow for event setup for the "In Memory of Buddy Phillips, Sr." car show. S. Commerce will remain closed throughout the day on Saturday, April 11th, and is expected to reopen at 5:00 PM, Saturday, April 11th.
