🐾 August Adoption Update!🐾

August was another month filled with happy endings, and we couldn't be more grateful!

😺 26 cats found their forever homes -- including long-time resident Maui, pictured third row, far right. She spent a total of 85 days in shelter.
🐶 19 dogs found their forever families
🐓 11 chickens found new coops to call home
🦆 2 ducks found their happy place

That's 58 animals who left our shelter and started the next chapter of their lives!

Every adoption represents a second chance, a new beginning, and a family opening their hearts and homes. We're incredibly thankful to everyone who adopted, shared our posts, volunteered, donated, or simply cheered these animals on.

Our longest resident met with the Director of HR today. We’re hoping this means a promotion… preferably to House Dog. Wyatt has been at the Liberty Animal Shelter for 150 days searching for his forever family. When you've been at the shelter that long, even the HR department knows your name! While he was not able to accomplish a new family at the meeting, he did manage to acquire a better benefits package: unlimited treats, a couch, and PTO (Paw Time Off).

On Saturday, Aug. 29, Animal Control Officers Bryant and Fincher responded to the area of Dartmouth and Ridgeway on a report of an unrestrained canine. Sometimes, our furry friends are too scared or stressed to be approached or safely hand captured with a slip lead. This was one of those cases. With a little extra help from a trapper, we made sure everyone—both people and the pup—stayed safe.

If you spot a stray dog, please give Liberty Animal Control a call rather than approaching, as their behavior can sometimes be unpredictable.

If you think this might be your pup, or you have any information to help us, please reach out to the Liberty Animal Shelter at 816.439.4791 so we an reunite him with his family.

Reminder: Ordinance section 4-9 states; It shall be unlawful for any person owning, controlling, harboring, possessing, or having the management or care of any animal to permit such animal from escaping, straying or running at large.

The Liberty Animal Shelter is ECSTATIC to announce their first annual Pool Pawty and fundraiser! This new event will be held at the Ruth Moore Park sprayground for all friendly canines and their human counterparts to attend on Sunday, Sept. 13 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. We ask if you are able, please bring a small donation for the shelter, whether that is financial or edible, and have a great time. National Dog Day calls for a celebration! These three boys are still looking for their furever families and have earned half priced adoptions until Sept. 1. Remember the shelter will be undergoing a much needed Renovation Project so our ability to house canines will be limited. If you've been thinking about adopting, now is the time. Today is the purr-fect reminder to make your cat's health a priority! Cats are experts at hiding signs of illness, so regular veterinary checkups are an important part of keeping them happy and healthy.

A routine visit can help with:
