Where others saw a closed-down mechanic shop, Tony Garcia saw potential. His gift for refurbishing inspired him to revitalize the old Quick Service Garage into San Gabriel Roadhouse - a local antique warehouse!
Tony's passion for "picking" quality deals is bringing a much-needed brightness back to Main Street.
"I've always liked vintage antiques," he smiled. He has bought and sold antiques for decades, and now in retirement, Tony is growing his hobby with San Gabriel Roadhouse.
Although Tony always searched for good deals to flip and sell, he spent his career in the restaurant industry. He grew up in Lubbock, Texas and first worked in Furr's Cafteria at age 15. Promotions led him into management, and Tony spent 25 years with Furr's!
After "retiring" from Furr's in Odessa, Tony was convinced to join the Golden Corral restaurant team. He spent another 25 years working for them as a franchisee - a good chunk of those years in Amarillo! (My hometown ๐ฅฐ)
In 2020, Tony chose to retire again, and he moved to Liberty Hill for warmer weather and friends. But, his lifetime hobby of flipping homes, cars, and antiques didn't go dormant. Tony knew he could bring his skills to our downtown!
His favorite part of owning an antique store is "the find." He loves hunting for deals and bringing unique items to the shop. Wandering through San Gabriel Roadhouse, you'll find limited edition coffee pots, vintage artwork, movie theater seats, bikes, dining tables, tools, and more!
Tony loves being a part of our Liberty Hill community, too. Our town is the perfect size, and "the people are grounded," he explained. He loves hearing all the stories of families in the area.
Stop by and browse all his curated treasures from 11am - 4pm on Wednesday - Saturday. The shop sits at the intersection of RR1869 and Main Street.
