This week we celebrated our incredible Municipal Court Clerks: Brittany, Karla, Naydelyn, and Leslie and all they do for our court and community every single day.

We simply picked a day to recognize and appreciate these hardworking ladies for their dedication, professionalism, patience, and teamwork. Our court could not function without everything they do behind the scenes and for the public we serve.

Thank you for always going above and beyond. We appreciate you more than words can say!

We would like to congratulate our former Treatment Court participant, Isaac Gonzales, on his transition into the role of Alumni Coordinator!

Continuing the momentum from March’s educational training opportunities, our Treatment Court Probation Officer, Michelle Contreras, recently spent a week in Oklahoma City attending the Community Supervision Practitioner Training hosted by All Rise.

This nationally recognized training brought together professionals dedicated to strengthening community supervision practices and improving outcomes for individuals participating in Treatment Courts. Michelle had the opportunity to learn from an exceptional lineup of presenters, including Karen Cowgill (pictured), Project Director for All Rise and a nationally respected expert in community supervision.

Last month, City of Liberal Court Clerk Karla Mendoza attended the 2026 Court Clerk Conference held in Wichita, Kansas, as part of the Court Clerk Committee, alongside fellow members Ashley Madden, Cynthia Beltran, Jennifer Holmes, and Stephanie Cole. Karla served on this year’s committee panel, presenting on Orientation Training topics. The conference featured sessions on legislative updates, court reporting, driver solutions, and municipal court operations, providing valuable insight and resources for court clerks.

Two weeks ago, we said goodbye to our Municipal Court Judge, Jason Maxwell, as he begins an exciting new chapter in Salina, KS.

For over a decade, Judge Maxwell has been an important part of the City of Liberal Municipal Court, leaving a lasting impact through his leadership, wisdom, and dedication to our community. He has not only guided the court with integrity, but also shared lasting knowledge that will continue to shape our team for years to come.

While we will greatly miss his presence, we are grateful for the time we had and proud to see him take this next step in his journey. On behalf of his Municipal Court family, we wish him continued success, happiness, and many blessings in Salina.

Thank you, Judge Maxwell, for everything you’ve given to our court and our community.
