Please join us in congratulating one of our Fire Department Lieutenant's, Evan Birkenbeil, on successfully graduating from the Illinois Fire Service Institute BOF Program!

This extensive 18-week program, completed both online and on the training grounds, provided advanced knowledge and hands-on experience toward becoming a State Certified Firefighter with Advanced Technician Firefighter certification.

We thank Evan for his dedication, hard work, and continued commitment to furthering his knowledge and skills within the Fire Service. We would also like to recognize EMT’s Peyton Owens and Ed Wilson, who, although Firefighters with Towanda Fire Department, also serve as EMT’s with Lexington Fire Department Ambulance, for their dedication and commitment to continuing their education and service to their communities.

Congratulations, Lieutenant Birkenbeil, Peyton Owens, and Ed Wilson on this outstanding accomplishment!

Good evening, all!

McLean County has asked that we share a link that has been produced to allow those that experienced storm-related damages to go in and do an assessment following the most recent storm event. Even those that experienced what may seem like minor damage are encouraged to fill out this form. These assessments will help determine whether McLean County qualifies for State or Federal Disaster assistance. Every report matters!

If you find yourself having difficulty with the form or have additional questions, please reach out to McLean County Emergency Management Agency at the email address or phone number listed.

Your professionalism, dedication, and compassion do not go unnoticed. Day in and day out, you answer the call—often on someone’s worst day—and make a difference in more lives than can ever be counted.

On behalf of the Lexington Fire Department, thank you for everything you do for our department and the communities we serve.

Follow-Up for Clarification: Ambulance Coverage for Octavia

We want to provide a quick clarification regarding ambulance coverage beginning July 1 for the Octavia Fire Protection District. Lexington Fire Department will continue to have an ambulance available and ready to respond, ensuring continued service to our community.

We hope this helps alleviate any confusion. If you have questions about this transition, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Lexington Fire Protection District would like to provide additional clarification regarding the
upcoming ambulance coverage changes for the Octavia Fire Protection District effective July 1.

We want to reassure our communities of the following:
• Lexington will continue to staff and house an ambulance in Lexington, providing the same level of
service our residents expect.
• Colfax will have an ambulance staffed by personnel hired by Lexington Fire Protection District,
ensuring consistent and reliable EMS coverage.
• Octavia Fire Protection District owns an ambulance that is housed in Colfax, which will be part of
this coordinated response system.
Additionally, we would like to clarify an important financial point:
• Lexington Fire Protection District is not using any of its tax revenue to fund this service.
The Octavia Fire Protection District has entered into a contractual agreement and is responsible for
paying the Lexington Fire Protection District to staff and manage its EMS operations.
This partnership allows for improved efficiency, staffing stability, and continued high-quality
emergency medical services across all communities served.
We hope this information helps alleviate any confusion and answers questions regarding this
project.

We appreciate your continued support and remain committed to providing exceptional service.
