The final draft of the City of Lexington Downtown Master Plan and Market Analysis has been completed. The finished copy will be presented for adoption in September. The original draft provided by the Northeast Georgia Regional Commission was thoroughly reviewed, analyzed and edited over the course of several months. Efforts to strengthen the initial document have been diligent and included multiple council discussions, work sessions alongside collaborative and individual review and edits by council members. The edits include not only recommendations of the municipality but those presented by community members and stake holders in addition to data received from a SWOT Analysis to determine strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.

While this should only be considered a general guide for future ideas and goals, this plan stands to be beneficial in many ways. The plan will help to ensure that future development centers in preservation and progress while aligning with community goals to protect resources, promote a high quality of life and encourage collaboration towards continued growth. The intention of this strategic plan is to help spark ideas, vision, innovation and collaboration between our community, municipality and stakeholders to bolster growth and prosperity while preserving our historic city in a meaningful way. The time, effort and commitment that has been poured into this endeavor by everyone involved has been remarkable.
